Pretty sure he is going to look like a traditional point guard when he plays with talented players at every position. Capel couldn't provide what was needed to accentuate Jaland's skills. It would not surprise me to see him named a 1st or 2nd team all-SEC point next season. Will be interesting to see how he does at a program that has athletes at all five positions on the court, but additionally, it will be interesting to see if he facilitates more as a shooter or a PG

Well, he’s not much of a shooter (26% from 3, worse than I even thought), so I doubt that will be his role. Will be interesting to see how he does at a program that has athletes at all five positions on the court, but additionally, it will be interesting to see if he facilitates more as a shooter or a PG
His 3 point percentage doesn't accurately reflect his shooting ability, imo. Too much of that is poor shot selection, and hero ball. He won't get away with that if he wants to stay on the floor at Kentucky.Well, he’s not much of a shooter (26% from 3, worse than I even thought), so I doubt that will be his role.
No, they won't. I expect his defense to improve significantly next year since he's not a bad athlete.is Kentucky going to tolerate his terrible defense?
…and better coaching. He’s going to crush it being surrounded by great players . No hero ball needed .
I don't see him as a plus athlete, maybe slightly but not by much.....if so why was he blown by so often by many of the average ACC guardsNo, they won't. I expect his defense to improve significantly next year since he's not a bad athlete.
He was a poor defender last year, I think he'll be much better than poor because he's not a poor athlete (for a P4 guard), won't be gassed from trying to carry the offense for 35 minutes a game, and most importantly will ride the pine next year if his defensive effort is substandard.I don't see him as a plus athlete, maybe slightly but not by much.....if so why was he blown by so often by many of the average ACC guards
I kept thinking his shooting would have to get better and no doubt he was burdened in Capel's elite reliant offense but outside his FT shooting he's just slightly above average or worse in everything else and while listed 6'3" plays small
where do people see he's an athlete? probably can't dunk, no lateral defense, can't go right well, not really good rebounder and really not anything but average as a passer
in balance a far worse defender so huge negative versus great PG though if not burdened with scoring probably helps Kentucky in that role
Exactly! Pope will demand what Capel did not, therefore his defense will improve. No, they won't. I expect his defense to improve significantly next year since he's not a bad athlete.
6th or 7th man. Skills would have to improve dramatically to ever start in the SEC. Needs to get a bit bigger also. He was depth hire, with some hope for a future starting role. They got a great person. Best wishes and thanks to him.
