Luke Farrell is rated the number 7 tight end in the country and a Rivals Top 200 player. He lives half way between Erie and Cleveland in Perry, Ohio and so is squarely in our recruiting area of focus. Now, he is a lifelong OSU fan and they are his dream school, but believe it or not, there are two higher rated tight ends in Ohio that OSU has already secured commitments from. I can't believe they are going to take a third tight end. The other schools in his current top 5 are Notre Dame, Boston College, Michigan State and Penn State. Of those, BC, MSU and PSU all have already taken at least one tight end in their current class. As for ND, Rivals reports that ND's top tight end target is Cary Angeline (more of a vertical threat tight end than Farrell), so Farrell may be a back-up plan for the Irish.
What's surprising to me is that Pitt doesn't appear to have even offered Farrell. I would think we are looking for a tight end in this class, and Farrell is just outside our back yard.
