First off, let me say, I don't think Pitt can complain about anything regarding tournament position right now as we've had some bad losses and don't have very many great wins, but I find quite a few of Lunardi's bubble teams, who are ahead of us as of his updated this morning, curious.
1. Kansas St. - last 4 out - currently 12-11/5-5 in b12. Also, Pitt beat them pretty bad. First off 11 losses. Secondly, I don't really see any great wins. 2 wins over the top 25 I guess. But, they are essentially .500. I can't see anyway their resume is better than Pitt's.
2. Richmond - Next 4 out - 12-9 and in 6th in the A10 - No quality OOC wins and not really a brutal schedule either. Nice win over #14 VCU. Just not seeing how this a better resume.
3. St Johns - 14-8, but 3-6 in conference - no top 25 wins - some solid wins vs bubble typ teams like Providence (2x). But, not really seeing how their resume is considerably better than Pitt. Almost looks exactly the same.
I know some of these have better RPI's than Pitt, but Pitt also has higher RPI's than a handful of other teams currently ahead of us on the bubble and who have similar or worse records. So, I guess I'm just kind of confused why Pitt is rarely considered on the bubble. As I just don't see our resume being worse than most of the 15 or so teams on the bubble.
Pitt will have their chance to work their way up the ladder. But, it worries me when a guy like Lunardi perceives them as that far back or behind these schools. On paper I don't think we should be. Have to wonder if our past average performances in the tourney and reputation as a weak scheduler are being held against us.
