And going to the past by making them as close to the wonderful Buddy Hackett era.
Unbelievable this crowd at Pitt
Incredible
I’m not. Just messing around. I kind of like them. I like the yellow hoops unis this year more then new ones but no big deal. Why are you guys so negative?
Who cares? Why are you guys so negative?
New yellow hoops jersey with script Panthers would've been Pitt's best jersey ever.I’m not. Just messing around. I kind of like them. I like the yellow hoops unis this year more then new ones but no big deal.
Numbers in front of football jersey seem too big but again, just nit picking.
That’s the best news I’ve heard all day. I can stomach almost anything that isn’t navy and beige.Check out @CraigMeyerPG’s Tweet:

Pitt has worn similar shades of blue and gold in the past, go look at pictures from the Paul Martha/Mike Ditka era.By going to colors that aren’t really the schools colors for starters. Pretty damn unique

Disagree. I like yellow ones this year much better.New yellow hoops jersey with script Panthers would've been Pitt's best jersey ever.

Bama changing from Crimson to Cherry RedIt’s the script, the blue, and the General uniform design. And I think you know that that is what was always meant by “retro”, even if it wasn’t the exact shade worn during the best years.
Then there are two or three people here that over and over and over and over and over must say what they know to be the “real school colors”. It’s Navy and old gold it’s navy and old gold it’s navy and old gold. Really...do you really want colors that most people have never seen? It’s that good for branding??
Those were more than a half century ago. So it’s no longer even a fun tidbit.
Time to win in these....roll forward....and never look back.
If that's Heather's way of burying the Pederson and Barnes years, then I'm all for it.Check out @CraigMeyerPG’s Tweet:
I'm curious as to how much, if any, input the current student athlete had in the final products. Hopefully they like them!let me first say, if the recruits like these unis that works for me.
And I like Heather demanding we separate ourselves from others.
But Pitt is a traditional school with a long history. i wish the unis had a bit more traditional look, with white numbers and grey facemasks.
i wont buy this stuff, but as I mentioned, if this appeals to recruits that trumps all for me.
BTW...I agree with Zelda...this years basketball unis were damn near perfect.
Right because they will be around for so long and kids never change.I'm curious as to how much, if any, input the current student athlete had in the final products. Hopefully they like them!
Bama changing from Crimson to Cherry Red
Michigan from Blue to light blue
Texas from Burnt Orange to Orange Orange.
Get it
The schools colors are navy and old gold
Right because they will be around for so long and kids never change.
Great programs have commitment to tradition and don’t change every 5 yrs
They have school colors and they honor them and stick with them.
Too bad Pitt can’t ever figure that out.
And the school’s campus is in Oakland - but that hasn’t stopped you from suggesting repeatedly that the school would be better off moving to a less urban environment to give the “campus” feel that you prefer, right?Bama changing from Crimson to Cherry Red

Yes, I get that, but since Pitt changes frequently, you'd at least hope that student athletes like them.Right because they will be around for so long and kids never change.

1)Actually, it was 1973. 46 years. No, I don’t get it. The schools you referenced have been those colors on the field for at least 50 years. Pitt has NOT been “navy and old gold” for at least 50 years. How you can relate that to PITT is beyond me. Let’s see pics of all these great moments in Navy and old gold.
Again...as a cute tidbit to say once when people are fighting between Vegas Dino cat and Bright script, yeah kind of a cool mention. But over and over when no one relates to that scheme modern day makes no sense.
Edit: I did see it on the field once....Ditka in the legend race!

I was hoping Paul "sit down in front" would hate them. Must be the reason that everyone I show these new unis to that isn't associated with Pitt loves them.
And we have to follow this trend...why? I’m pretty sure the whole purpose of what Heather Lyke was doing with the uniforms was to make us unique and stand out, which she has done with flying colors. Didn’t she say her inspiration to change the look was after she saw that’s Georgia Tech and Notre Dame had almost identical gold colors? There is truth to this. ND, Navy, and GT also wear Navy and Gold. WVU wears Navy and Yellow. Cal wears Navy and Yellow. PSU wears Navy. Duquesne and RMU wear Navy. There's just no uniqueness to it. Kansas and possibly Ole Miss are the only FBS schools that wear Royal Blue and there are no Royal/Yellow combos.
Nvm I misread the purpose of what you said *facepalm*And we have to follow this trend...why? 1)Actually, it was 1973. 46 years.
2) And, if they haven't been seen in that long, isn't it time to bring back the traditional, official colors?
3) Heather herself is not forever. She will be history sooner or later. The next AD may be a traditionalist. And, more of the fans who (wrongly) associate the light blue and mustard with Pitt's success will be gone every year.
4) I don't really care what colors she wants to sell. But it is fun watching you younger guys get your knickers in a twist over something that happens fairly often most places.
