Watching UNC destroying an 8-4 Temple team that is much better than EMU is a perfect example of how good coaches prepare good teams for bowl games. They are sharp. They were ready to play at the opening snap. They haven’t let up. No fumbles. No interceptions. No bad penalties.

The intercepted a pass for a Pick 6. They celebrated. On the sidelines. No penalty. DB handed the ball to the official. Ran to the sideline. Whole defensive backfield did a little celebration for the fans.

Their young players didn’t just work in the extra practices for bowl games. They got game experience in the third and fourth quarters.

Oh, and they return more of their two-deep than we do. Including their QB, who is good every game. Not twice a season.

But, they won’t be the favorite in the Coastal next year. VT returns 21 of their 22 starters. Loses one OL.

if next year is the year Narduzzi has to produce 9 or 10 wins, he might as well start packing next week.

8-5 is probably an acceptable ceiling at Iowa State. Or at Wake Forest. Or at Boston College. It never can become an acceptable ceiling at Pitt.
