I just watched the ESPN documentary on Marcus Dupree. I grew up a die hard fan of Pitt and also Oklahoma (my Dad is a '64 grad of OU). I remember watching Dupree, and his greatness. The story reminded me of the Brian Davis (Wash High) saga. Davis was without question the best HS running back I ever saw in person (He beat out Emmitt Smith for Parade Magazine player of the year), and was as good as Dupree in my opinion. Dupree was bigger, but Davis had better moves. The other key difference of course was that Dupree actually got to play a full season at Oklahoma, and Davis botched the thing a little quicker. Pitt planned to run Davis behind Ironhead, which would have been absolutely sick, but both screwed up the offseason leading into that year, with Davis never to recover.
I just searched the web for a half hour looking for that Brian Davis highlight video Guy Montecalvo did with some Pittsburgh media guy 8-10 years ago, so I could link it, and it is nowhere to be found. H2P!
