I really enjoyed the quiz that DT put out. Lots of names from the past. Lloyd Moore-forgot about him. There was a kid named Marlon Ferguson who was a Pitt recruit who wavered between Pitt and Duquesne. Does anybody remember the kerfuffle around him? I think he finally went to Pitt but never amounted to anything.

Pretty sure he went to Pitt. I remember my freshman year roommate had a crush on him.

Marlon Ferguson went to Center High School, was a PG Fabulous Five player, and was generally considered the best prospect in the WPIAL graduating player in 1983.

The best that I remember the story, Pitt Assistant at the Time, Seth Greenburg, gave him a ride somewhere, in his own car, and his was somehow a recruiting violation. I don't recall if this came to light while he was being recruited after he committed to Pitt. Anyway, by the time Ferguson did arrive here, Greenburg had made his way to Virginia.

I also don't recall if Pitt ever got into any trouble for the infamous ride. But Ferguson's career was a complete bust at Pitt. He almost never played as a freshman in 83-84, played a little more more as a soph (to no impact), flunked out as a junior, and returned as a senior for enough time to wave at the crowd once or twice.

It looks like he has made a positive impact off the court.

One of my buddies was very close with Marlon. He was a good guy, just not a good player at this level.

Marlon Ferguson was one of the 1st Pitt recruits I followed along with Curtis Aiken. As I recall, he was that classic high school kid that once he didn't have 3 or 4 inches on everybody, he really didn't have much else to fall back on. Except that fly name of course.
