J Edgar Hoover had a personal vendetta against MLK. Hoover hated him and thought he was a communist.

What the facts are in those files is beyond my interest. MLK was a great man and leader achieving civil rights for Black people that was long over do with non violence. His eloquent speeches are among the greatest in US history. Yet today there is hatred for him and Blacks? I prefer to look at achievements and greatness and he has both!

I would question Garrow’s motives having a PhD from Duke and being interested in smut!

So I see why you would want us to read the Barr interview. He thought it was over but many better prosecutors and Judges from both parties recognize the crimes. Don’t rush to judgement.

You're certainly entitled to question his motives. According to Garrow, it was Bobby Kennedy, not J Edgar, who green lighted the surveillance. J. Edgar embraced a number of civil rights leaders whom he thought were good for America (no communist ties). I forget exactly why Bobby K was against MLK....something about double crossing JFK I think.

As we know, MLK associated with known communists in the SCLC. He probably should have disavowed them.

He was a man. He wasn't Christ. He has his sins and weaknesses too. Kennedy had them. FDR. Aside from the numerous Republicans yinz guys have no problem admitting their weaknesses.

See that is the problem I have with a lot of Lefties. They are apoplectic in regards to any issue or bad behavior by a republican. I mean if say a Mitch McConnell tells a racist joke, he should be removed and beheaded. Meanwhile Robert C Byrd can be the Grand Dragon of a local KKK chapter and he is forgiven and championed.

MLK no doubt had his foibles, there are too many reports to not believe. That doesn't change what he was trying to accomplish.

It's real simple. I loathed the man's very poor character and was glad he lost. No mendacious attitude.

passes just manifest themselves in different ways... those that offend the sensibilities of the left are usually banished from public life while those that offend the right, uh, not so much...hey, I'm not complaining though as I get Paula Dean (wonder what the "have you ever said the N-word in your past" question asked to entire body of Congress hooked up to polygraph percentage would be) cookware dirt cheap at Ollies.. Got a tip on that deal from the now still governor of Virginia......
