Just finished watching the match. An easy victory, but we had a few guys who really weren’t ready to wrestle. If Kellan Stout doesn’t want to compete, he should be benched. He lost 9-0 and looked like he would rather be almost anywhere other than on the mat.
Anyone who hoped that being a senior could mean a more consistent Rahmani has got to be disappointed. He is what he is. Bulsak filling in for the again-injured Kemmerer was the other loser for Pitt, but he wrestled hard.
Wentzel was good. He has wrestled hard all year. Mickey basically sleepwalked his way to a win. Got put on his back with a 4 point move early but came back for an easy win. Newell and Harvey wrestled hard and both won. Harvey beat the only ranked Maryland wrestler, albeit he is #20. Matthews got a pin but it was an ugly match. It was hard to tell on the small screen but it looked like his opponent basically fell onto his back. Bono was solid and got a late takedown for a major. Meech was dominant.
The officiating was interesting. I believe they gave stalling warnings in every match, sometimes to both wrestlers.
A win is a win. But, they will have to wrestle a lot better to make some noise in the Southern Scuffle.
