McKeesport Players

Some of your comment sare just stupid biased, and sterotyped. I am from McKeesport and I can tell you psu branch campus has nothing to do with it. 2. Parents aren't telling thier kid s to leave mckeeport because of rough streets, etc. Hudson's brother went to slippery rock, I will concede one thing that the coach that replaced smith for two years didn't like Pitt and thats why players like simmons didn't go. But despite what you guys think I know a lot of players from the 90's-early 200's and Pitt didn't recruit them hard. My friends on was played OL and wanted to go to Pitt and Harris didn't recruit him or a WR and they both went to Connecticut when UConn was beating our ASS. I am friends wIth Tim brown a great player from WVU his son went to UConn and was a grad transfer who went to where -BC . Why ? No recruiting from Chrsyt. So maybe we should Put it on the coaches and not the recruits. Actually Pitt is in the same situation. The steelers share facilities and when they nhave needs never draft Pitt Players .Examples Needed a WR -didn't draft Fitgerald. Needed a rb- didn't draft Mccoy. Still need DB and let Revis get away twice. Need DL and yet Donald went to St. Louis. So is it on the players or the steelers ? Suzie beat A

Suzie beat Agnus in women's basketball. Suzie recruited locally at Duquesne (and still does at Pitt) and Agnus did not,as manny players parents (and coaches) expressed that agnus would not recruit locally and said there was not good players in the area. It's the coaches and not the area. I think Narduzzi will change that. And hoping new McKeesport coach will be wade. you don't think that will have an impact

Ummmm to dispel the fantasy world you live in...Fitzgerald was drafted 3rd overall. The Steelers had Hines and Plax at WR. They ended up drafting some bum named Roethlisberger that year with the 11th pick. I think that worked out OK for the Steelers.

The Steelers didn't need a RB that badly. They definitely needed a DB and they tried to draft Revis but the Jets beat them to it.

Aaron Donald? Come on dude. The Steelers play a 3-4. They picked two picks behind St Louis who drafted Donald. Donald wasn't playing the nose here. The Steelers have Tuitt and Heyward, a duo I would take over any 3-4 DE duo in football.

Pitt fans keep on spouting this tired refrain. But the Steelers are the winningest franchise in the modern NFL. I think they know what they are doing. The only Pitt guy you really can harp on the Steelers for in passing was Marino.

We used to pick Tim and Jim Brown up for football practice on the way out to White Oak. I was real young. 6 years old.

My point in mentioning the branch campus is that McKeesport is more of a "Penn State" town than Pitt town. That doesn't mean recruits flock to Penn State but it does mean that Pitt is looked down upon in McKeesport. Its "inferior" to grand ole Penn State. A lot of Pitt hatred there and a lot has to do with Penn State, you know, actually having a college there.

There were 2 players from Mckeesport, both running backs, that committed to Pitt in mid 90's, around 95 or 96. Both had over 1,000 yards rushing and both committed to Majors. I cant recall their names but I think one never made it and the other dropped out quickly. Anyone else remember this or is this just my CTE catching up to me after my 4 years of dominating opposing players in my high school days?

I live in McKeesport and it is not a penn state town. The branch campus doesnt have anything to do with the 10 or so McKeesport recruits going elsewhere in the last 15 - 20 years.

So, what is drawing the players elsewhere? And not just to Penn State, but also programs like Texas Tech.

Devon Simmons probably thought he was "bigger" then Pitt at the time of his recruitment , he committed to unc and then went to Texas tech, his teamate Brandon Jackson followed him to tech for similar reasons I'm sure. They've both done well for themselves
