So just thought I’d calculate the median player rank for each class over the recent years and see. I do like last years class. There was solid depth addition, though if Beville pans out it will be a great class down the road.

Basically I list the year, total number of commits, and median ranking.

2021 .8778

2020 (16) .8554

2019 (19) .8559

2018 (21) .8573

2017 (24) .8427

2016 (23) .8507

2015 (15) .8503

2014 (23) .8420

2013 (26) .8295

Despite Chryst pulling Dorian and Byrd in 2013, lack of depth was apparent.

2013 turned out to have some really good players

Narduzzi's biggest problem is that he's still very weak at the bottom of his classes. Nobody can say he hasn't brought in good players. Just hasn't brought in enough. When he starts filling the class with talent all the way to the bottom, the average will be closer to 0.87.

according to rivals, the "bottom" of his classes are better than the top of his classes.. look at 2016 as an example where the bottom 5 ranked players are head and shoulders above the top 5 ranked players. '17 is looking to be similar, but not as obvious.

I think the classes are deep, just lack that elite talent that we've always gotten with past coaches.. weak at top and good the rest of the way.

I think HCPN is still learning the recruiting game tbh, which is ok. He came in with a lot of momentum picking up a lot of 4 stars but his early classes lacked a lot of depth. Look at the 2019 and 2020 classes though, recruiting solid guys across the board hitting on all positional needs so 2-3 years down the road, we will not have as glaring holes in certain positions. Im excited what the future holds in terms of recruiting at least.
