What started out promising has ended in such a disappointment for Pitt fans.

The Covid, then Hugely, then Johnson & Toney It is really hard to imagine anything more that could have gone wrong.

Well, there is always next season, I suppose. Capel better land a ton of quality transfers and late recruits this off season because a step backwards was just completed.

He can't coach worth anything so he needs another Blake Griffin to come here. That's our only hope at this point with him at the helm.

It was over long before today.

The only way that Capel can impersonate a good coach is if he gets a couple of 5*, one and done, guys to come to Pitt and just lets them play. I honestly don't understand how he was considered a good hire as a head coach. Maybe he's a decent assistant on a staff where there are a slew of 4* and 5* guys, but that isn't going to cut it at Pitt as a head coach. He can't get the elite recruits that can let him coast, at least not a Pitt.

Then there's the character issues of his guys, which are a reflection of him directly. A couple of good guys, and a bunch of guys who have questionable character and can barely speak the English language. That's not what we want at Pitt.

I was referring to interviews I see with some of the players. I don't want to mention names and it's not really important or fair to them. These are kids. But they do need to learn how to speak English in front of a camera or a microphone. It's not their fault.

If it's not fair to them then was it fair for you to even say a comment like that , it has no relevancy WHATSOEVER, to this team, program or university...leave that stuff outta here man , like I said I agree with everything else you said

Really? I have no idea to whom the original thought was directed to, but are you saying that there are no standards whatever for colleges with regard to correct grammatical speech these days.
[/QUOTE]
Man just stop, NOOOOOOOO absolutely NOT....this isn't 1867 clown , move along

ok, not sure why you feel so invested in no standards but if that is the way it is, so be it. So what, use a lottery for acceptance into Pitt?
You really are a CLOWN 🤡.....So no standards means criticism of a foreign KID who willingly came her to get a degree and play ball????? Their kids dawg...what is wrong with you ??

So to attend PITT you need to use PERFECT ENGLISH??? you are what's wrong with america buddy boy congratulations

You and he disagree. That doesn't make
him "what's wrong with America." Using
your logic and connecting the dots I guess
we are to conclude that your opposite
opinion makes YOU what's right with
America.
Dude, take a look in the mirror

Mannnn what??? Anyone that thinks a 18 to 20 year old kid who came here from another country has to speak english perfectly or else it's an issue , is the PROBLEM, you can take a look in the mirror as well

PERFECT ENGLISH

haha, I did not say anything like that. I am not sure what your anger issue is all about, I guess my point is that it seems that it would make it all the more difficult for a coach if his players are admitted through a no/low standards program.

I never once made reference to a young man who came here from another country. My reference was toward those who were born here but for some reason, never learned in our education system to speak English. I'm sorry you misinterpreted my post, but I never said or intimated what you said I did. I wouldn't expect some kid from another country who has only been here for a short time to be able to speak good English like most Americans do or are expected to do. In fact, I've heard some of them speaking much more clearly and succinctly than the American born kids.

Look around! This message board has its share of borderline illiterates, and I'm sure most were born here. I do expect someone, anyone including student-athletes, to at least be able to speak and understand English and be able to communicate in a somewhat respectable manner. That isn't always the case with "student-athletes", whatever those are.

Actually, it does have 100% relevancy to this program and university. Their FIRST priority is to get an education, graduate, and become gainfully employed. Period. The sports is their meal ticket to pay for their education. Most, greater than 90% of them, will never earn a paycheck professionally in sports. They need to learn and get a job when they graduate. Bouncing, catching or passing a ball won't help them after they graduate. So their education and ability to do basic things, like read and write, are totally relevant.

Your hero had a vocabulary of about 19 words. I'm not very concerned about the communication skills of 19 year old basketball players.

My Dad had a vocabulary of considerably more than 19 words. I don't know how you know him. But your hero and your namesake can barely comprehend the English language. Or doesn't care if he can.

BTW, they aren't 19 year old basketball players. They're 19 year old students who play basketball. They better be able to communicate on at least a high school level.

Hard to argue with you here, make valid points
