Chase Pine and two 4 star PSU commits from the state of Michigan. Game day is broadcasting from campus. It will be a huge football Saturday in Ann Arbor, an electric atmosphere and a huge, fired up crowd. The whole country will be watching that game.

Harbaugh is taking no prisoners.

I read that Pine said he's just wetting his beak and enjoying a weekend away, hopefully he doesn't get too blown away from his visit. On the other hand, from what I read, the two PSU kids are very seriously considering switching to Michigan. I think a lot of Michigan HS recruits didn't think UM would be this good this quick.

Let's all hope Dantonio finds a way to hand them a beating, that would be better than the opposite for us.

What do you make of the line on this game? Mich -7.5? (give or take a 1/2 point)

I can see Mich favored at home....but this seems like too many points

What say you?

If I had a choice between UPS and UM, it would be UM all the way. Harbaugh will have UM competing for the conference title soon; while Franklin will continue to do what he's been known to do: beat the weaker teams not named Temple, and lose to the better teams - including Michigan. And for those who care about such things, Michigan has a much better academic reputation, too.

But......as far as Pine is concerned, it is UP and UM, not UPS and UM. Hey, let's face it, if we have good recruits, people are going to try and flip them. It sucks as fans as we are just sitting on the sidelines watching this.......but the fact that some of the big schools like our kids, it is a stamp of approval that these guys are good prospects.

FWIW, my comment was more about the two UPS commits who are reportedly considering Harbaugh and UM, and not about Pine.

I know. But the OP's main point was that Pine was visiting UM and he is a commit to UP and the comparisons that you made of UM over UPS can also be applied to UP. So.......algebraically, it is not a real smart post.

One good thing is that Mich already has 22 commits and 3 of them are linebackers...

Go Pitt.

With that many already committed, it makes one wonder how many scholarships do they have to give out? Or maybe they're gonna add to their numbers by telling a bunch of their players that their services are no longer needed?

Unfortunately, the fact that other more celebrated programs may flip some of our higher rated recruits may be the case for some period of time or maybe forever. Fortunately, HCPN lived with that the last 8 years and did just fine. Luckily I don't follow recruiting nearly as closely as most here, so for me I see what happens on signing day and take it from there.

I say MSU wins a close, hard fought, very physical game, but if I were a gambling man I wouldn't bet a penny on either end of this one.

I'll be in the Big House for it rooting hard for the visitors-should be quite a day no matter what happens.

That's not gonna happen. Pine hasn't been offered by UM yet and would be one of their lowest ranked commits-but they obviously like him.

Unless you grew up a big PSU fan, that decision should be a no-brainier. U of M is superior in every respect, and Ann Arbor versus State College is no comparison. I think they've addressed their little 8 year football slump rather effectively. There are some epic battles with OSU and MSU ahead in years to come. As long as Meyer, Dantonio and Harbaugh all stay put that is. As a lifelong MSU fan secondary only to Pitt, I just hope Dantonio wants to coach a LONG time.

The MSU Honeymoon over Michigan is over, Dantonio is a Ohio State Man and that means Harbaugh will take no prisoners along with his Team. Michigan asserts itself again because Coach Pat is at Pitt! The Big Blue Sky will prevail over the Mean Green Machine!
23 MICHIGAN
15 MSU

Outside the Big Ten Michigan is not exactly a power house. They had numerous Rose Bowl losses. They have exactly one NC in fifty years, and that was disputed by many. Michigan is a storied program but in reality has not been an elite talent factory as some believe. After Brady and Woodsen, keep naming NFL high profile stars in the NFL. For all the recruiting of 4 stars and some 5 stars, they really pale in comparison to the other big time programs. Like ND just an over rated program with a name. MSU is really beat up on the OL and Michigan will win due to that.

Agree with a lot of that--but I think Harbaugh was hired to get them to be a national title contender, and I think in 3-4 years they will be. Until RR and Hoke got there they were putting lots of players into the NFL, they have plenty to sell and the talent level will be at its highest point ever after a couple of years of Har-ball. Right now, they have a bunch of no-names outside of Jourdan Lewis and Jabrill Peppers, who are future NFL top 10 picks.

But generally, the strongest college teams with the best talent are way down south. There are just so many good players down there, the HS programs are so much stronger and the off season training so much better, there is no comparison. And 90% of those kids will stay in the south--it has always been that way and always will be that way. Once in a while a northern team or a western/southwestern team reaches up and grabs a NC, but it always reverts back to the usual suspects.

When I watch the better SEC teams the thing that always stands out to me is the size and athleticism in the trenches, especially the D-line. Those are freak athletes that you seldom find north of the Mason-Dixon. And the team that is best in the trenches is going to win way more than they lose, regardless of schematic trends on both sides of the ball.

that;s why i think MSU wins that game tomorrow. Michigan has to run the ball well to win, they don;t have a passing game. MSU's D line is one of the best in the country, and they are geared to stop the run. If MSU can protect the passer and run the ball a little bit, they should get the win. They have a better team, even as banged up as they are right now.

Will be an interesting, and hopefully competitive game tomorrow. But I'm going to miss the annual win and physical beat down of UM every year by MSU.

If Pitt can even come close to winning the Coastal this year, PN will be able to legitimately sell the idea that Pitt will be competing for ACC titles every year to the 2017 and '18 recruits. And for kids strongly considering UPS, all coaches can tell recruits that with Meyer, Harbaugh and Dantonio entrenched for the next 5 years plus, that UPS' ceiling will be a divisional 4th place finish every year, fighting off Indiana and MD (assuming they make a decent hire) for that spot.

Me too--hopefully they have one or two more left in them including tomorrow. I will be there as a Spartan fan. Lots of excitement/tension in these parts for this one.

The problem with your statement about Meyer, Dantonio and Harbaugh is we're competing with all three of them for players as much as we are for PSU. Lot of B10 noses sniffing around WPA these days, and those three programs have plenty to offer these days. Still, if the Dooz wins and continues to energize this long slumping program, Pitt will do just fine on its home turf. Most kids would love to play for their home program as long as it's worth playing for.

No way. Hoping for a UM victory. Enough attention has been given to Moo U. Go Blue !!

How is Chase Winovich doing at Michigan, if anybody knows?
Moved from LB to TE in the spring and currently buried behind 5 other guys. Redshirted as a freshman and pretty sure he hasn't yet been on the field in a UM game.

We are missing a word-COMMITTED. I f they truly are then they will come to Pitt. if not we move on. Someone said early that we as fans are sitting on the sidelines (helpless). Not true, what we say makes a difference. Remember shady McCoy. he publicly said that the Zoo's reaction, attitude, and to use the word lightly recruitment of him helped in his decision to come to PITT. What you people don't think the cult's YOU people reputation and words don't effect their recruits. it's not the dominator, it's the ghost of joepa and the cult he built. So maybe we should do more support of our teams, and coaches in all sports and stop complaining and whining. It makes a difference.

I would think if there was any school in the country that Narduzzi knew how to recruit against it would be UM. I don't think there's too much to worry about in this case.

Not great and he hates it there. Friend of a friend thing. Take it for what it's worth.
I suspect he hates it there because he isn't the player he and the prior UM coaching regime thought he was when they brought him in. He's buried deep in the DC-literally behind 5 TEs. At that point you're with the walk-ons. Great school, facilities, town, etc, but he went there to play football and that doesn't seem to be working out for him.
