1. That I was unable to make tonight's game (in person) but I had a good excuse
2. That tonight's game "looked" like one we should've won
3. That we had two major meltdowns at the end of both halfs - as already commented ad nauseum by others here
4. That we finally lost a game where we led at halftime - guess we really do need to score at least 70+ to win, but my basketball sense says we will score that many or more vs UNC and finally lose a game where we've hit that number
5. That we still can't get a bunch of points from our guards
6. That we still leave too many open looks from beyond the arc that our opponents always seem to score from
7. That we don't have another point guard who's capable of running the offense (nothing against Damon, but he is NOT a point guard, IMO)
8. That we still have no other signature win besides ND
9. That unless we have a miracle finish to our regular season, we will probably be looking at the NIT again

That's enough!!

It's almost the end to Fat Tuesday and I'm wondering what to give up for Lent ... if I were a Pitt BB player, I'd want to give up losing for Lent!!

4-4 down the stretch might get it done for us to make the NCAA's; just wondering how we get past tonight's tough loss. It's not panic time yet, but it's damn close ...

Hey Moe!

I don't think we need a miracle, per se. If we go 4-3 in our final league games + a win the ACC tournament, I feel like we are in pretty safely.

However, if your thinking that it's a going to be a long shot for us to accomplish the above record, then I'm not going to try tell you are wrong!

We have played well against UNC (they do not play defense either).

Hey DT! Hope all is well with you and the family . . .

My math was off when I thought we had 8 games left; fortunately, it's only 7! ;)

As I look over the remaining 7, here are my "odds", for whatever that's worth:

@UNC - 60%/40% Tarheels win
WF - LOCK for us (damn well better be . . .)
@Syr - coin toss. We do play well there, and Dixon has a winning record vs Boeheim. But Syr is battling for a bid, too, and they are playing much better lately
LOUISVILLE - 75%/25% the Cards. This is obviously a must win for us; no pressure situation for Louisville, but you have to wonder if by then their players will no longer care
DUKE - 65%/35% Dookies. Again, the pressure to win this one is fierce. May change my odds after seeing how we/they do between now and then, but Duke will be a tough match for us if Plumlee plays well and they get their usually good perimeter shooting. Maybe the Zoo helps us?
@VT - 60%/40% Pitt. We'll have to have the same energy we had when we played them at home a few games back; won't discount the fact that Curley (aka Coach Buzz) will have a much better game plan at home
@GT - If we are 20-9 at that moment, I give it a 65%/35% odds toward Pitt; if we are 19-10 at that moment, I think it's a reverse. The team may press too hard to win and lose a close game - ala UMiami

The "plus" side to this year is that U of L and SMU cannot go to the NCAA's, and I do think that no fewer than 7 teams will easily make it from the ACC. But the Pitt team as of Feb 10 is heading in the wrong direction. I just hope that the upperclassmen will figure a way to "man-up" and start focusing on wins. I really don't care if they are pretty or ugly right now. By one point or fifteen points. "Just win, baby!" - to steal a line from Al Davis . . .

I'm sorry to say that your odds don't seem all that off unless this team starts playing the way we think they are capable of playing.
