Individual play helps the team far more than individual play does in football. All 11 eleven players must mesh do their job while knowing the jobs of others - for a team to succeed over the long term. An offensive line with bad chemistry will fail and then the whole offense fails. That isn't even close to the case in baseball. How so?
But, did they face the doomsday defenses of UTEP, Vanderbilt, Jacksonville State, and Northwestern? Next we'll hear that CCAC's intramural team has "really good" defense for a juco when they face UNLV next year. The big question will the salesman be there to face them?UNLV first 4 games 2023 with Mr Innovation - 136 points

This isn’t about play - it’s about getting along in the locker room…aka chemistry. You‘re moving the goal post…you didn’t preface chemistry in terms of play, you mentioned it in terms of getting along.Individual play helps the team far more than individual play does in football. I never moved the goalposts. I’ve always believed that chemistry in the locker room is reflected on the field. This isn’t about play - it’s about getting along in the locker room…aka chemistry. I'd like to point out that at least a small part of our offensive woes are attributed to Marion's complete inability to recruit a WR with a pulse.

And I gave you a team that had terrible chemistry but won anyway. So..yeah, chemistry does play a role but it's not a concrete measure of success.I never moved the goalposts. I’ve always believed that chemistry in the locker room is reflected on the field.
And in the 3 games NOT against the #1 defense in the country UNLV put up 44, 40, and 45 points. All with an average recruiting class someone near, if not in, the triple digits. They have played two P5 schools in 2023 in those 4 games, including one with one of the premier defenses in all of college football.
That’s not a fair comparison.
One example is an exception to the rule and I already stated that baseball is more an individual sport than team sport. And I gave you a team that had terrible chemistry but won anyway. So..yeah, chemistry does play a role but it's not a concrete measure of success.
So you acknowledge that competition matters and that the OP was silly. They have played two P5 schools in 2023 in those 4 games, including one with one of the premier defenses in all of college football.

Almost everything that dude says is bogusYou would think you would understand that he wasn't at Pitt long enough to complete a recruiting cycle. He started at Pitt in February 2021 and left in December. So your comment is sort of bogus.
You Frank’s uncle? Why would Addison stay for the Go Go which is much more run oriented than what Cigs runs? Also, can you see Slovis or Parti running the option? (a requirement for a QB in his offense)
Talk about Neanderthal football, the Go Go is basically Wing-T with tempo.
To suggest Pitt could go 12-0 with Kedon Slovis running the Go Go is one of the most ludicrous things I've ever read on this board.
I've watched them. I watched the UTEP game. UNLV doesn't have much of a passing game. The 3 main reasons they have been successful are Bryant, Vanderbilt, and UTEP. (UTEP simply can't tackle) UNLV had a little over 140 yds of total offense against Michigan until garbage time 80 yard drive in the last few minutes of the game.I haven’t watched a second of UNLV football, so I have no idea what they are doing or why it has been successful. And they aren’t really talked about on any college football shows, so there’s no insight from them either.
But they recruit in the bottom 2 or 3 of that conference. Last year the offense finished 96th in SP+. This year they are 73rd.
Not an insane leap. But SP+ had them projected to be the 98th ranked offense this year. And those projections are still being factored in since the sample size is still too small. Which means the offense is actually even better than 73 if you just used this year.
So based on the numbers, they have had a pretty decent improvement so far in one offseason for a team void of talent.

They added leading rusher Vincent Davis. But they didn’t play a good defensive schedule last year up to this point.
This year’s defenses are undeniably better than last year’s through 4 games.
And UNLV’s offense ranks higher than last year.
Saying, “well, UNLV has taken their sh*tty talent and played a bunch of sh*tty defenses” isn’t an explanation as to why they’ve improved over last season. Especially when SP+ actually projected them to be worse offensively this year than they were last year.
Bill Connelly even highlighted UNLV as being one of the teams with the biggest rise in his rankings this week. And that’s because you’re now starting to see last year’s numbers filtered out of the analytic numbers as the sample size grows for this season. So the quality of a team this year isn’t being pulled down by last year as much.
Nothing you typed explains that.
Your point defending the OP makes no sense.I didn’t really take that as the OP’s point.
I think the argument that, “Pitt would be doing that with that schedule” is a dumb argument.
Pitt has P5 talent. The teams thus far, outside of UNC, do not recruit above Pitt.
UNLV has played teams worse than the ones Pitt has played. But have not played a bunch of teams so far below where UNLV recruits at.
It would be like diminishing the job North Dakota State did in 2018, because they didn’t play anyone as good as UCF that year.
That’s not really relevant to the coaching job North Dakota State did.
Your point defending the OP makes no sense.
They added leading rusher Vincent Davis.
Well, then 2 can play that silly game. You're wrong. I said nothing that was even close to wrong.I made no point defending the OP’s original point.
Only that you’re wrong.
Can we stop offering "defensive rankings" right now in the season.
Good Lord, PITT is the #12 ranked defense in the country right now. Does anyone really believe we have the 12th best defense in the nation right now.
But if we're going to talk about defensive rankings..
UNLV's murderer's row
Defensive Ranking
UTEP #98
Vandy #91
NW #76
Bryant #63 - FCS ranking
Michigan #3
Michigan's opponents - total offense rankings
ECU - #128
BG - #117
Rutgers - #111
UNLV - #78
Listen, I'm sure Michigan has a really good defense, maybe top 10 or better..
But, stop with these dumb stats in week 4 of the season..
Bryant, Vanderbilt, UTEP, Hawaii.Just a reminder. UNLV has scored 40+ points in 3 straight games for the first time in team history with a Head Coach that has never been on the offensive side of a coaching staff.
They have as many 40+ point games in their last 5 as they did in their previous 52.
UNLV never beats anyone. Their turnaround is shocking.Hey, don't let the fact that UNLV hasn't beaten anyone with a pulse get in the way of unhinged narratives.
Good point. They've been playing against a real murderers' row of opponents for the prior 40 years when they hadn't accomplished that...Bryant, Vanderbilt, UTEP, Hawaii.
They put up 7 on Michigan.

Unranked, Unranked, 69th, 79th, Unranked. Those are UNLV's 5 previous recruiting classes.
Michigan has played 2 teams that have also put up 30+ points in wins over ACC opponents, neither of those teams scored more than 7 points against Michigan.
It's actually 3 in a row. Their offense is ranked 66th. They don't even average 400 yards a game. Pitt averaged 405 last year against a lot better competition.UNLV has set a school record for 4 games in a row over 40 points. The previous record is 2. Nobody is saying their schedule is tough but this is one of the very worst FBS programs historically, with bad players (in theory) and they are putting up video game numbers. Marion is doing something well there. Marion >>>>>>>> Cignetti.
76, 81, and 108. That's the defensive rankings of the teams they had success against. The other was Bryant. Their next opponent is Nevada, which is dead last at 130.Good point. Against their only quality opponent, Michigan, they had 42 total yards at halftime.
66th rated offense. 394 yards a game. It is what it is.UNLV has terrible players and they set a school record. Facts are facts. They could have scored more points than this in the prior 50 yeads but didn't. And stop referencing the Michigan game. They may win the Natty. UNLV doesnt have a single player who could even make that team.

Wait, you are creaming in your pants over the 113th best passing offense after playing a trash can schedule?
You are an weird dude.
Why do people get married and then get divorced? Then why hire him in the first place?
Can't disagree but it's still sort of like Colorado. See what happens when they start to face the better teams on their schedule.UNLV never beats anyone. Their turnaround is shocking.
