In light of the news today that Bam Brima is no longer with the team, I've been calling around since it's pretty odd to have a sixth-year senior who went through spring camp basically disappear from the roster after one week of training camp.

Turns out, "odd" is a good word for it.

From what I'm told, Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt football program didn't want Brima to leave and Brima himself didn't want to leave. There was some kind of eligibility issue that created a hang-up and, while it could have been resolved, it apparently wasn't.

Now, what kind of eligibility issue could exist for a sixth-year senior who graduated more than a year ago? That's a great question.

Was Brima a top contributor? No. Does his departure cause considerable damage to Pitt's chances in the 2024 season? Also, no. But is it unfortunate to see things end like this for a player who was part of the program for a long time? Yes, I think so, particularly when it happens under what seems to be rather curious circumstances.
