Most excited I've been about a Pitt home game since Cincy 09

I mean that. This is the first "big home game" we've had since then in my opinion. i remember not being excited at all the last time ND came in. It just wasnt as big of.a deal at the time.

This game reminds me of the last time we started 6-1. We had a night ESPN game with undefeated Rutgers. They were having a great year just as UNC is. Pitt fans were pumped. We had a nice crowd. Then we laid an egg and lost out. Hopefully the same thing doesn't happen but in my opinion, 5 of the best 6 teams on our schedule still have to be played.

I really didn't have a problem losing to Rutgers in 2006; that was the golden year with the Big East with WVU, Louisville and Rutgers all having great teams and winning bowl games. My biggest problems were the epic collapses against USF and UCONN; win both of those games and you finish 8-4 and get a nice bowl game to finish 9-4. Instead we lost to two very beatable teams and really defined the Wannstedt era of mediocrity.

I'm cranked up but cautiously optimistic that tomorrow night will NOT be another Grade-A egg layer for the Panthers.... every UNC game here since 1978 has been a close one. Let's hope the Heels feel the kick of the 'new" Pitt in primetime. H2P.

And then there was the infamous Rutgers game when Teel lit us up for like 5 tds and a gazillion yards and Wnany said he thought they would run the ball--it's good to have PN

I have tried to erase that game from my memory. The Rutgers receivers were open deep the whole game and Teel kept chucking the ball deep for TD's. The worst kick in nutz was, as you stated, was when Wanny thought they were going to try and run the ball. That was one of the best examples of his lack of game day coaching. He never adjusted to the Rutgers game plan and they simply said thank you very much and kept thowing it.
