I have PTSD. Last time I saw Pitt v PSU at Ambrose, we had the USMNT game vs T&T on our phones in the crowd. That was the night we officially failed to qualify for the World Cup.

But…that was also the night we knew that Pitt soccer arrived.
Yeah I was wondering how many days our team has actually trained together.Dangerous first game. PSU brought everyone back from a squad who nearly made the NCAAT. Pitt started 2 French freshmen who just got to campus a few days ago. Started another freshman (Thorsen from Norway and Grau, grad transfer from Germany). So, I had a feeling it would be a tough one. For one, I wasnt sure where the goals were going to come from. Returnees Sahmkow and Feitosa have never been "the guy" and neither played terribly well tonight.
Really bad red card on Mirkovic. Pitt played the final 10 minutes a man down. The crazy part is it went to review and they used THAT. There was a small melee after the goal, lots of pushing and shoving on both sides. Mirkovic pushed someone and got a straight red. Crazy.
Player thoughts:
Gilman - got beat on the long ball goal by Danielson. Cant happen
Toure - I like him. He flashed at times. Potential star on the left wing.
Thorsen - scored but didnt so a ton
Noah Hall - liked him on the right wing when he came in. Has that shiftiness
Corner kicks - terrible, all went right to the PSU GK
The broadcast said that a handful of our starters last night weren’t in town yet when the announcers had visited Pitt for a practice a week or so ago. Sounds like a couple of these guys just got here.Yeah I was wondering how many days our team has actually trained together.
I know the transfer from Marshall did not play. Glad to hearit might not be due to injury. The broadcast said that a handful of our starters last night weren’t in town yet when the announcers had visited Pitt for a practice a week or so ago. Sounds like a couple of these guys just got here.
I was surprised that the kid from Charleroi played almost 20 minutes off the bench. That seems like an earlier contribution to the program than a lot of people probably expected from him when he signed.I know the transfer from Marshall did not play. Glad to hearit might not be due to injury.
Joao Souza - Men's Soccer - Pitt Panthers #H2P
Joao Souza (11) Midfielder - 2022 (at Marshall): Appeared in all 19 matches while earning 13 starts in the midfield for the Herd as he helped them advance to thepittsburghpanthers.com
Heard the same thing from my step son. Grand kid starts at South Park. Goes to Pitt camp every year.I was surprised that the kid from Charleroi played almost 20 minutes off the bench. You can see the flashes out of Toure. Super kinetic. He's not good enough yet, but confident he'll get there.
Grau is a tank. I don't know how they found more of a bull than Ordonez, but they did.
Love Feitosa's touch & creativity, but dude was gassed well before halftime. Shocked that they didn't give the Marshall transfer a look.
Ton of respect for how hard Thorsen & Maillefaud play. Those guys are frequently applying pressure & making things difficult for the opponent.
Sullivan performed way better in that Walti role than I expected. He kept plays moving through contact several times.
