Boise State left 13 points on the board (two missed FGs, TD called back)… can’t afford to do that against good teams.
Boise just didn’t play clean enough to win. They definitely had their chances but were just too sloppy to beat someone like PSU

Personally, I’d be fine if they awarded the four byes based on overall ranking and not the four highest-ranked converge champions.

Boise actually got into the game and hung around a bit, but PSU closed it out strong.
They can't beat to top 5 type teams, but otherwise as you said take care of business against 90% of the time Just don't see them fo the bizarre crape we see from Pitt routinely.
My brother is a PSU fan. I think he put it best when he said Franklin makes a great team a very good team.
PSU tries to get cute with trick plays and gimmicks when just lining up and playing football would work.
I think they have good enough talent but an unwillingness to use it correctly.

Franklin is a bit of a goof for sure.
My point was that, as a lifelong Pitt follower, the program just is legitimately burdened by some bizarre gremlin.
There are actually a lot of programs that lose more games, but it's more about talent and coaching.
There have been times during HCPN tenure he has had reasonably "clean" seasons, the ACC championship year and his first couple seasons.
Didn't see it a lot w Chyst, but he half slept walked during his time and that is why he was plain mediocre.
Not saying Pitt should be winning national championships, just that it's an endless Charlie Brown and Lucy thing w teasing being a decent top 25 type team and stupid $hit like Duzz and Bell going w Lynch, Dugger playing so well but throwing a 50 yard pick 6 to a DL, and Bart botching the goal line play and everything else, or having a 25 point lead in the forth quarter against Houston and finding a way to give up 26 points, to blow easy bowl wins.

Your brother looks at things through Blue & White glasses. Truth be told, Franklin has never had a great team at PSU.
2022 Georgia was a great team. 2019 LSU, 2020 Bama,
No college team with 2 losses has any claim to greatness. No team in this year's field is anything close to great.
So, essentially no more than one great team per year. There are what, 138 teams? There are 135+ teams every year that are not “great”. Why single out Franklin continually? He’s arguably in the 90th percentile at worst.
I don’t think we’ll see too many great teams anymore. Just too difficult to build depth with the transfer portal and NIL. I think talent-wise, Penn State compares to any of the top teams in the country. They have weaknesses (WR and a good but not great QB), but so does every team.

Not for nothing, but why are you on a Pitt message board after your team won a college playoff game?
They have to move to that seeding method. Now we have 2 of the top 4 seeds being double digit underdogs to teams that were seeded lower than them - Boise and ASU. That tells you how wrong this seeding structure is.
First off, I enjoy College Football and have 2 teams-Penn State and LSU-but love watching all teams. I visit other message boards to get other teams fans perspectives, not to troll or inflame. When I post a question it's because I want someone else's opinion-is that satisfactory?
