Division I Men’s Soccer Committee reveals top 16

With two weeks remaining before selection Monday, the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Committee announced its top 16 rankings.

Pitt, despite having had an RPI of 4 was #8. However, since then they have beaten #12 VT twice and Oregon State lost to UCLA. I have been saying all year its vitally important that they finish in the top 4 so they can host all the way to the College Cup. If they win the ACC Tournament, I think they do it.

The top 4 seeds will be:

Georgetown
Washington
The Marshall/Kentucky winner in CUSA Tourney
Pitt (if they win the ACCT)

What would really help would be if Washington knocks off Oregon State on Thursday and Tulsa not winning the AAC Tournament but if Pitt beats #12, #6, and #10 or #11 in a week, I dont see any way they arent one of the top 4 overall seeds.

I was a bit surprised by NC State and Alabama getting in. Pitt was higher in ACC standings, but maybe beating Duke got them in. SEC got Alabama on at 10-9 and going 0-4-1 on the road.

Agreed. No one cares about Pitt olympic sports which is why you shouldn't spend $300 million on it. As good as Pitt soccer and volleyball have been, they don't even draw 2000 fans. While that is more than what Pitt basketball draws, its not by much and we're talking about Top 5 teams vs the worst P6 basketball program.
