Mueller yet again saying Penn St will more fans than Pitt

To the fan that mentioned the cheaper tickets in the past, I know PSU still draws 90K+ for just about every game. But, aside from big time opponents, it seems there are always about 15K or 20K seats available at Beaver Stadium. Is this false? If not, why wouldn't fans just snag the cheaper tickets then? I'm not trying to bait, I'm just curious.

The tickets aren't that big of an issue, it's the hotels. Most people that go to PSU games live at least a couple of hours away. Many do not want to drive 4+ hours a day for a mediocre matchup. In the past, they were willing to stay over and enjoy the town, but the hotel prices have gotten ridiculous. As I mentioned earlier, it's 300 or more per night for a hotel room and all hotels in the area have a two night minimum. $600 just for lodging is tough to justify if you are not playing a marquee opponent. Of course there are other reasons why attendance is down as well (mediocre football, the scandal, an overall downturn in attendance for college athletics...) but the cost is certainly an issue.

Why should they know that? Seriously. That has got to be one of the dumbest things ever posted, at least in regards to the media.
You don't think they should know the product that they analyze on the radio? Sorry but I get tired of hearing attendance and coaching stability beat into the ground. They don't know the product so that's all they can talk about

Before the UNC game last year Pitt was off to a great start. I listened to the fan that day to get primed for the game and all it was was "what's the attendance going to be"?

10,500 Club seats... all club seats are sold and are to Pitt fans. Nitters will only get them only if Pitt fans sell on Stubhub, etc. That even skews the math more.

10,000 students
9,000 clubs (expecting 1,500 sold to Nitters on websites)
3,000 allotment for PSU
If Pitt fans only comprised 65% (36,500) of the remaining 56,000 tickets, that puts the crowd breakdown at:
36,500+9,000+10,000=54,500 v 15,500. Basic math, and it will not be more.

There will not be more than 15,000 Penn State fans in attendance (79% Pitt alums/fans and 21% psu alums/fans).

HAIL TO PITT!!!!
