Didn't make my usual XC/track post this year -- nothing laudable to report. Teams are still pretty bad and while I recognize they are hamstrung to a large degree, I will continue to beat the drum that they shouldn't be *this* bad.
NC State won on the Women's side -- not surprising -- but Wake won the Men's side, which is interesting as they don't field anything close to a full complement of scholarships for the sport. That being the case, they've got all-in on mid-distance and distance with their roster compilation and it paid off dividends here. One of my chief complaints about Webb and the way the team is constructed is that there's no structure or identity or design to it; Wake clearly shows (at least on the Men's side) the value of being resourceful in the approach.
