I waited until this morning to post so that my emotions were not going to influence my thoughts.
When talking about our team I fall in the middle between the two sides of fans that are on the board.
Often times on these posts a great topic gets overlooked and not debated because the two fractions of fans start attacking each other. I agree with the we MUST recruit better crowd. However, I also understand that a stadium that holds 70 thousand and is less than half full puts the staff at a huge disadvantage against the teams we recruit against. Couple that with the fact that we can not even take recruits to basketball games when they visit and we fight an uphill battle.

The reason for my post though is to discuss what we can and should be able to easily control, coaching, specifically offensive coaching. I understand last evening we were out talented by a large margin but the following bullet points should not be covered by the excuse of talent.

We had multiple delay of game penalties and wasted timeouts that last night did not hurt us but in the future certainly could. One to start the second half! That is piss poor preparation and execution. This is our 13th game and we are taking time outs to start a half. That embarrassing.

We had 8 yards passing, 8! I do not care how you all think of our line, our QB, and our receivers, that is embarrassing. Our receivers may not be prototypical is size but Lopes, Ffrench, and Carter can all run exceptionally well and I did not see one WR screen called, not one. Factor in we have Aaron Matthews out there to block for them and to me that is not using your players to the best of their abilities. These guys can make you miss. One missed tackle, one slip and you have a big play. Nope we just kept doing the same things that didn't work.

I understand that we have little talent at TE but either play additional lineman there or get creative in passing situations and line up Matthews there to create a mismatch and try to get him up the seam with a LB covering him. For the love of God anything. They don't even have to defend that. They blitzed their 2 middle linebackers on multiple occasions. A TE could literally take 3 steps into the vacated area and have a good gain. At worst it would keep them from doing that. It is a sad state of affairs when a school has so little to offer in adjustments to try to help the players when they face a good game plan.

To me, I am not going to scream Pickett sucks. Clemson will put many of their defensive players in the NFL. We will put few of our offensive players there. Talent was not kind to us in this match up but we tried nothing. We did nothing, they used a flee flicker on us, we did nothing creative to help our players. We made zero adjustments. Piss poor coaching, 5 yards of passing at halftime. Try some creative stuff, you have nothing to loose. We didn't and added 3 additional yards in the second half.

This team plays hard, this team is resilient, this team made me proud this year. However, ask yourself, while recruiting must pick up so must coaching, especially offensive coaching. How do you think Nick Saban would react to as many delay of game penalties and wasted timeouts as we saw? It has happened all year? You see Dabo Sweeney constantly on his team and coaches when they make mental errors. I can honestly say this in an unemotional way, I would fire Watson.

Hail to Pitt and lets win our Bowl game
