...for many of their players. We went after Anye pretty hard out of JRob's H.S. DeMatha then missed on Lacey as a transfer from Alabama (I thought we had a solid chance w/ him) even though he was a Gottfried recruit at Bama' that ended up following Gottfried to State. Freemen was another big nasty down low that would have fit in well w/ us.
And then I saw Satchel Pierce have a few outstanding low post scores for VT the other night...He would have gotten minutes w/ us no problem this year. The kid has solid fundamentals offensively w/ a very soft touch. All he needs is to mature & get more accustomed to the banging of bigtime ball. But at 7'0 I so wished we had landed him last year. He is all upside...and out of our own backyard. Pierce would have been a kid that would have really been able to help us yet also gain bigtime experience going into the future... Your not always going to get those Star's but you have got to get the kid's that will allow your Program to continue....losing a 7'0 footer w/ solid skills, good footwork was a big loss for us. I am big on Satchel Pierce potential, Buzz will do wonders w/ him....
