If you’re not familiar - Bobby Bonilla was owed $6M for the 2000 MLB season but the Mets couldn’t afford it. The Wilpon’s (Mets ownership) were screwed during the Bernie Madoff scandal thinking it would pay off long term (8 percent interest vs 12-15 percent return supposedly promised by Madoff)
So instead of getting the $6M when he was cut. The Mets pay him every July 1 $1.19M from 2011 to 2035. A total of $29.8M. But it ended up being a great deal for the Mets.
Could you imagine Pitt paying the remaining $12M (he makes roughly around $2M per season for the next six seasons after this one) at interest from like 2030 to 2060? Would ease the monetary situation. Now and just know every year $1M of your budget is gonna be going to fixing the Narduzzi fiasco.
