Narduzzi closing practice and

I think it is a good idea. Not what most were hoping for but the Dooz has been part of so many big games with Michigan State I think he knows best.

The week will fly by and Saturday at noon will be here in a blink of an eye.

It's okay.

All I know is Narduzzi was part of Michigan St's success against their rival, Michigan. He
clearly knows more about rivalries, and how to succeed against a rival than any of his
critics.

I don't know how we'll survive the week without the same base questions and answers asked to a bunch of kids who were watching Barney when this game was last played.

It really isn't that big of a deal, but I'm sure some will try and make it one.

No problem at all with this approach:

1. The local media (for the most part) doesn't give Pitt a fair shake anyway, so why even let them in?

2. There are many things being said behind closed doors that the coaches don't want repeated.

Why? This game IS different and they need to keep all the players away from our craziness. I'm glad they're keeping the kids away from the Pittsburgh media. They should the whole season. It's not like they're doing us any favors.

And the Pittsburgh media are a bunch of Nitters.

Cut out the distractions.

These national columnists apparently aren't aware of how many PSU superfans comprise the Pittsburgh sportsmedia. I don't blame Narduzzi for being paranoid at all. They get shitfaced with Scrap Bradley in public for cryin out loud. Probably offer to blow him too. If they caught wind of something like Whitehead's expanded role or injury info or something like that, they'd absolutely go straight to PSU with the info.

Ron Cook's column about how he believes that PSU honoring the enabler, JoePa, is the right thing to do really pissed Narduzzi off and is the reason for this media ban this week.

Pitt is getting more coverage from the National Media by closing practice and player availability than they would conducting business as usual. Good deal.

As you guys said, with all of the pro PSU sentiment in the local media why would Narduzzi give them access? Right or wrong he has seen the same press clippings we have and I'm sure it at least somewhat influenced his decision.

I really think the effectiveness of this strategy comes down to the personality of this pitt team. Could be beneficial, detrimental, or neither and we will probably never know which. I don't really care either way.

I love how they are crying. "Well if pitt doesn't want us here, then why cover the team at all?" "Guess I will go home for the week." Look how the pg Mike and blue white took a high school kids tweet and turned it into a story. For any of these ass clowns to complain, maybe look in the mirror.

Obviously my rant doesn't include peak or even the guys running the pro pitt blogs like pittsburgh sports now, but when was the last time during a week you learned something positive from an interview with a kid?

Having worked both as a journalist and a PR person I can tell you that attending practice on a game week doesn't impede your ability to do your job one bit. And I can guarantee you the only reason some of the Pittsburgh media are criticizing the move to close practice is because they won't be able to get their pretzels and soda in the media work room.

with the game being on ESPN, there was likely to be ESPN folks on site getting some video and wanting to talk to coaches and players so they'd have material for the broadcast. Evidently Coach Narduzzi doesn't want his guys being distracted by that while they're in an extremely important week of practice. This is an important game for recruiting and a winnable game against a P5 OOC opponent. It's a big game.

The ESPN game broadcasters will still be able to get some access. Standard protocol for the rights holder.
