Its got to get better. Franklin has recruited his ass off over the past couple of years and the Peds won strictly because of talent. This staff has been winning with Chryst's players over the past 2 seasons. If Natduzzi doesn't realize it, we're in for a future of 6 and 7 win seasons.

Is Narduzzi given the resources ($ and support staff) to recruit better?

Pitt needs a quarterback or this would have been a closer game. Also need some speed at running back. No speed at all back there.

Pitt's awful recruits were a quarterback away from a very close game with Penn State today. Of course you want big time recruits, but it is going to take time after the mess of the coaching situation we had.

Are we talking bb ? My mistake Pitt athletics !

Non sense OP. Up grade our QB position and depth, perhaps another OL or 2, add Quality LB,s and I for one like the progress and possibilities. The QB, OL's and LB'smay already be on the roster but just not ready. 7 or 8 wins still possible and for this year I will take it, developed a QB and double digit wins for 2018 and finally a breakout year.

In only year 3 it hasn't. But going forward it definitely has to improve.

The running backs played there butt's off. There was no down field pass game yet they still ran the ball well. The lack of talent on Pitt's team is found at QB a though they played well today defense.

Didn't say the RBs didn't play well, but there is no speed in the group at all.

In case you didn't notice Pitt did not get manhandled today. Take a chill pill.

Outclassed in talent would have meant PSU out gaining pitt by a large margin. Pitt had 2 TO vs PSU's none(the one at the end of the half is meaning less it was a hail mary anything short of the endzone changes nothing) They settled for FG's instead of TD's while not holding PSU to FG's and allowing TD's. That is a not going to win you many games no matter how much talent you have. Flip that around PSU with 2 TO and Pitt none. Hold them to 2 short FG's instead of TD's and Pitt scores TD's instead of FG and its a different score. Had little to do with a great disparity in talent.

Your an 18 y/o kid and you take a visit to Pitt when they're playing a big game and you love the atmosphere
( 50k ) then the next week you watch the game on tv to a half empty stadium . Then you take your visit to a school like PSU and see 100+ k screaming fans and that's for every game , the tailgating and the towns on fire for two days , it's hard for a school like Pitt to compete with an atmosphere like that . It's also not out of the realm of possibility of playing for a national championship at PSU . You just can't compare the two programs .

Lol...yes because both schools and situations are comparable. How about we get a full house that stays the whole game for once.

I'm a Pitt fan , but was Pitt at any time during the game a threat to actually win the game ? The next question is which team will improve more during the season ? Unfortunately the answer to first question is no and I think it's PSU because they do have more talent .

PSU hasn't been a legit NC race late in the season since 1996 Thats 21 years. They haven't won one since 88 thats 29 years. Unless your OSU, no team north of the carolinas or east of the rockies has a real chance at a NC. The southern teams have won how many of the last 20 NC's? Twenty years and no one other than OSU has won a NC north of the carolina's.

How did PSU look so much more dominant. Pitt equaled the yardage. Just had a few to many mistakes to beat a good experienced team on the road.

Less turnovers for psu and Pitt struggled to execute in the red zone. Pitt was always the underdog in this game and for them to have had any shot of winning they can't be settling for fg's inside the red zone

Yeah, cause Pittsburgh has the same talent in it's backyard like Miami does. You guys make me laugh

Pitt does have the talent in it's backyard to be ranked 15-25 every year. You need to land it and coach it correctly. With a few key players from other areas here and there and they can even make a run for it all every so often.

Really a shallow comment. Franklin's staff doesn't recruit any harder than Pitt's, just has more going for it. Nits have more talent, but did not dominate in the least. Take away a few turnovers and drops, and Pitt has a real chance to win. Pitt out gained them, and dominated time of possession, but PSU consistently played with a shorter field. Pitt's lesser ranked recruits hung in there on the road. Similar to Mich/Mich St situation, the coaching has made it competitive.

WVU seems to do well in a worse situation

Truth!

Agree with that I really thought WVU would struggle mightily when they joined the Big 12 but they seem to be doing just fine. There really is no reason Pitt can't be a 8-9 win team every year and occasionally win 10 but we have what 1 10 win season in 30 years just once you'd think we'd find a way to have a breakout season and get to a really meaningful bowl.

There is nothing you can do about that but also PSU has a recruiting budget north of a million dollars and large recruiting support staff. That is something Pitt can mirror and it would make a difference.

Not enough talented sophomores, RS freshmen and true freshmen on the field for you today to battle PSU's experienced talent?

I'll bet some PSU fans had that same feeling after last year's game.

They've actually been pretty bad since joining the Big 12.

No they don't. They don't recruit as well as Pitt, look at the rankings. They have been better at finding the hidden gems and the have done a much better job with coaches. Pitt basically self sanctions itself with coaching Turnover. Every time you change a coach you lose a class. This lost class would have been Juniors and RSo.

Programs like PS that will do anything to win offer the following. Pitt coaches are playing the recruiting game with their hands tied behind their backs.
1) A rapid fanbase that will treat you like a Greek God.
2) Free Escorts
3) Constant $100 handshakes from boosters
4) Electric Gameday atmospheres
5) A chance to win a title
6) Easy path to graduation

Look at the enviorment Franklin gets to recruit to and he has the full backing of an administration that wants to win . You just can't compare the two programs .
The Nitter U admin, the alums, boosters, fans, etc are 100% All In when it comes to Nitter football!
The same people at PITT have one foot in and one foot out in a wait and see outlook!
This isn't a formula for success!

Any team not named Alabama fits the description of a team not likely to win a NC . PSU can sell you that dream while Pitt can't .
