Virginia Game & Other Dribbles ...

BTW, did anyone notice how Virginia came out and uncharacteristically switched on almost every pick and roll? There were several times Pitt had a mismatch with a big down low defended by a guard. Rarely took advantage of it though.
yes - I yelled this at the TV several times while watching the game ... the basketball IQ of this team is quite lacking

We certainly don't have any Brandin Knights or Levance Fields on this team, that's for sure. And it seems the basketball IQ of the coaches is lacking as well.

Thats the real problem. The coaches dont seem to have the ability to aid the players in the most basic part of basketball. The things you are all talking about doesnt need high IQ. They are the most basic part of the game. Its done on all levels. Just look at other teams. They do those basic things naturally. But Pitt players dont seem like they work in any of them in practice.

If they are working on them and continue not to take heed to them, then Capel should be ashamed of himself. Pull those players, bring in others and tell them you go in, and do what we did in practice.

Lunardi still has us in today in the first four. The Athletic did a bracket today and had us as the last team getting a bye. We are squarely on the bubble right now. And yet he's saying things like we need to win all the rest of our games just to have a chance to get on the bubble.

Think about that for a second. Most people think we are on the bubble now, one way or the other. He thinks we are so far off that if we go 9-0 down the stretch, which would include beating bubble North Carolina at North Carolina and bubble SMU at SMU, and a team that right now is easily in Louisville at Louisville, and if we do all that there is a chance, not a guarantee mind you, but just a chance, that that would get us to the bubble.

I mean look, we are simply not going to go 9-0 in these last nine. Heck, did anyone think we would go 9-0 in these last nine back when we were playing well, let alone now that the bottom has fallen out? But if we do somehow manage to go 9-0 in these last nine games, the reason why we won't be on the bubble is because we would be in.
Yeah for sure saying if we go 9-0 we won’t get in is silly

But given the recent performance is there anyone who thinks they will win enough games to get in? More importantly does anyone thing this is a tourney team or can right the ship to be a tourney team ?

I’m not going to waste time trying to figure out games they need to win. I’ll leave that to the bubble “experts”.

I’ll just finish by saying that IF they get in it will be one of the best coaching jobs done to turn a team around

Because their guards are too focused on how they are going to drive to the hoop and throw up a prayer

Coaches need to....you know....coach. Teach. Prepare. If we are going by results on the court, Pitt's coaches aren't coaching, teaching, preparing the players.

This Pitt team isn't a tournament team. Maybe I exaggerated out of frustration saying we'd have to go 9-0 the rest of the way to have a chance to get in. I'll admit that. But it will have to be close to that, maybe 8-1 or 7-2. And the wins would have to include quality wins over UNC, SMU and 'Ville, at least 2 of those 3. None of the other games are going to be easy either with the way we're playing now. ND, BC and GT will give us fits. Maybe Miami will be a bit easier, but no guarantee to win.

I agree that Pitt getting in will either take one of the best coaching jobs this year by any coach or a complete substitution with a new roster and coaches. The likelihood of either happening is close to 0.
