I said it before and will say it again. Oats would be a good hire.Against Sean Miller too. Looking good early.

-This guy has one intriguing resume
-He's 42 and coached 3 years
-He has 2 Tournament Conference Championships and 1 regular season championship
-His whole team is returning next year minus 1 player
-His team is 7th in the country in scoring
-Going to be a real hot name after next year as his team will be a runaway favorite to win the league, again. This is Keatts resume part 2.
-And he has 2 Four Star Recruits coming in next year. To friggin Buffalo. And we cant get recruits to Pitt according to the Pitt media and some fans
-Yes, interview please. Right after this game. Dam....
You guys know that Oats signed a new contract literally less than a week ago, right?
Yes - 1 million dollar buyout. Pitt can triple his salary and pay the buyout. You guys know that Oats signed a new contract literally less than a week ago, right?
-For 350K per year.
That isn't what he signed for. As a matter of fact he signed for more money than they offered your hero out at Arizona State to stay two years ago.
If he wasn't planning on staying why would he sign a new contract?
-He signed for 600K for the renewal. Big friggin deal. 3 Mil >>>>>>>>>>>>> 600K
https://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo...etball-coach-nate-oats-to-make-600k-base.html
But again, why would he sign the deal if he wasn't planning on staying? It's not like he couldn't have known that there might be some bigger school suitors out there. And it's not like if he didn't sign the deal last week that Buffalo was going to pull the offer from the table. If he wasn't planning on staying or even if he was thinking that there was any chance at all that he was going to leave, all he had to do was say to Buffalo "hey, I want to stay, but I'm not going to think about this stuff until after the season's over". And he'd have saved himself a million dollars (or something like that).
Who cares what he signed.
-Who cares what he signed. Chris Beard left a team, signed with UNLV, quit at UNLV 19 days later after moving, then signed with Texas Tech.
Because he signed something that would cost him somewhere in the neighborhood of $1 million (and probably even more than that) when he didn't need to. If someone said to you that you could sign a contract today an potentially piss away $1+ million or you could wait a week and save yourself that amount of money why on earth would you sign? It is completely illogical. If he has an agent and/or an attorney working with him they both would have pointed that out to him.
Look, I get that stupid stuff happens sometimes. Hell, we hired Kevin Stallings to be our basketball coach. But if Oats is looking to leave he literally just pissed away $1+ million for literally no reason at all. If that's how this ends up he is monumentally stupid.
Ask Chris Beard your question
I asked you the question. And don't worry, I wasn't expecting you to actually answer it. You never do when the question makes you look foolish.
-What are you asking me to answer. Im not Oats. If Pitt wants him, they can pay him a large sign on bonus to boot. We just flushed $20 million down the toilet to blow up the basketball team in less then 2 years. I think Pitt can afford it if we choose to get it right this time.

Any commentary on the NCAA shying away from relying on the RPI to decide who’s in or out this season?
-You know, I havnt looked at the RPI in probably over 2 months. I lost interest because Pitt sucked so bad.
