NBA Regular Season

The Sixers path to the east largely depends on finishing in 3rd or higher in the East. I think their new 5 will be much better at containing Boston's wings than last year's disaster of Marco Bellinelli and Saric, but Embiid can't leave Paul Pierce alone from deep the way he can with Giannis.

If they play Nets and then Milwaukee, I think they're a lock for ECF.

If they have to play Boston and then Toronto, I'm not sure they win one series.

Paul Pierce always kills us w/ Boston. Feels like he's been with them for 20+ years now.

Just giving you a hard time. As a Sixers fan myself, I still have heartburn over Paul Pierce. Taking Larry Hughes over him....AHH! Pierce and Iverson would have been fun to watch together for a decade.

Huge 76ers fan myself. Look at how fat Eric Snow has gotten. Shame this was our second best offensive option for Iverson.

If the season ended today, the 8th seed in the West, OKC Thunder, would be in at 43-31. The 8th seed in the East, Miami Heat, would be in at 36-37.

What is the point? There is literally no chance the NBA Finals will be anything other than Golden State vs Boston. Its inconceivable that another 2 teams will play for it. That will be a great series but as a casual fan who doesn't watch regular season NBA to begin with, I cant see why any casual fan would. The Finals are set.

Ay yo, SMF.

Yeah I kind of figured this thread would blow up on SMF. Was no surprise result either, saw the Bucks as high as -400 at some places to win the series.

I feel like it was blindingly obvious for anyone who watched more than a single Boston game this year. But @Sean Miller Fan was too cool for that.

Maybe true about Kawhi but Boston and Philly have better overall talent. It's going to be Boston/GS. In a 7 game series, talent wins. I am sorry to spoil the regular season for you. Boston has the best players in the East and maybe the best coach. They will win the East.

Come on, SMF. Eat your crow.

You are right. I didn't watch 1 Boston game this year so I don't know what happened. I felt they had the best players with Kyrie and Hayward back after their run last year and LeBron finally gone. I guess the team never gelled. I also didn't expect Giannis to morph into the best player in the league. So, there you go. I got Adams wrong and the Celtics wrong. I am rarely wrong but when I am, I admit it. My Morton to Big Ten prediction will hit tonight and I said that over a year ago.

If you had predicted Purdue, specifically, you'd get to claim credit for it. But saying he'll go to a conference is way too wide a net for you to get to brag. Especially when you are so often profoundly wrong about other things.

Purdue was one of the schools I said but I listed about 8 or so

I believe Milwaukee was mentioned in passing once in this whole thread before yesterday

The funniest part of this is that you made grand declarations and stuck in on your extreme opinions based on LITERALLY nothing.

So, what’s more likely: this was the one and only time SMF talked out of his ass on something, or this is the first admitted instance of a regular occurrence?

Woof. Wrong again.

I also didn't expect Giannis to morph into the best player in the league.

So you didn't watch him last year either? 6th in total win shares last year, 2nd this year. It's not like he transformed from good to the best overnight, he was unquestionably a top 10 player last year at the age of 23. It's alright to admit you don't know nearly as much as you think, go ahead and try it now.

There is no point to the regular season. I know Boston has better players than Toronto so while Toronto may have the better regular season record, they aren't going to beat Boston in a 7 game series. So, why would Boston, with better players, have a worse record than Toronto? I don't know. It happens. 82 games is too many and NBA players give varying degrees of effort in the regular season. I cant see Toronto beating them. I saw them live in Cleveland (the James buzzer beater) and I just didn't see enough talent. Yea they have Kawhi now and Lowry is good but does Van Vleet still play? He isn't a good NBA PG, I'm sorry.

I'd go Sixers before Toronto on talent.

As for the H/D comparison, it seems like Pitt/Toronto always play at maximum capacity in the regular season and win a ton of games while other teams, subconsciously are at 90%. But when it counts and everyone is going full tilt, Pitt/Toronto cant go any higher. They dont have that extra gear. Basically they overachieved in the regular season

Fred Vanvleet poured in 21 points to help put the Howland/Dixon I Raptors up 3-2 over the bucks. Scored 13 in their previous win.

Oof. Perhaps another SMF miss?

Another "I predicted it and got it right" post by SMF.

SMF knows basketball.

FYI VanVleet still plays.
