Just about everything about our performance
vs ND was probably already mentioned on
here. So I looked for another topic.

Watching the game I couldn't help but
notice how well and how fast ND's ball
movement was against our man to man
D. Usually it's a zone that you're trying
to beat with fast ball movement and
rotation. It's much harder to do against
a man to man D. Bobby Knight's team
did it better than most. ND took our
D apart with their ball movement.
Of course they hit their shots all night
long, but their passing game was like
watching a clinic on ball movement.
When we went to a zone on D, same
result by ND.

We on the other hand use an entirely
different approach. We pass it back and
forth out front and then look for guard
penetration. There is a lot (a REAL lot)
of dribbling by our pg. Obviously that's
Capel's approach (he himself was a pg).
Usually I criticize, instead I'll just mention
the difference in offensive philosophy on
the passing game and ball movement vs
Dribbling.

Playing the passing lane??...I won't even
go there after what I watched last night.

Again, it's coaching. This magnifies the difference between a well-coached team with good preparation and one that is poorly coached and not prepared at all that isn't coached to adjust during the game.

This team coming off screens, setting screens is an absolute embarrassment. Anything away from the ball They just go through the motions without a care in the world. Notre Dame went up 12 in the first and I shut it off. It didn’t matter who they played last night, IUP woulda beat em by 20.

Good post, and totally agree. We sucked but ND played great, too. Excellent ball movement and passing. Brey is a very good coach despite whatever their record says right now. He is going to make his team better.
