Was thinking about the poster that was convinced that Pitt missed the boat with this kid. He's playing major minutes for Colgate, the defending Patriot League champ, and who with all 5 starters returning, is an overwhelming favorite to defend their title. Three games in, Cummings is averaging 10.7 pts a game, and shooting 48.1% from the field. He's a good player at that level, and may well become elite by his senior year. That said, Pitt didn't make a mistake passing on him. While I'm not saying he would never have seen the floor for Pitt (there are plenty of players at the mid, and low major level who have developed, and would be in the rotation at many P5 schools), you just don't bring in an undersized player like him, who would be a fairly long shot to ever be more than a guy coming off the bench here. Robert Morris may have missed the boat with him, but he may have been a little too well regarded to settle for playing in the NEC. He did after all, originally sign with a MAC team, and the MAC is well above the NEC. Duquesne might have taken a shot at him in the past, but Dambrot is aiming Duquesne at the top of the A10, and Cummings might be step below what he needs. I hope he does well. I always like to see the local ones make good.
