That’s it. That’s the post, as the kids say. When he entered the portal, I said he was better than anyone we had on our roster and while statistic wise it isn’t true, I think his pride in Pitt and being from Pittsburgh is eking out to the rest of the team. And yes he’s pretty damn efficient and a good PG too. Offer BeeBah tomorrow and get him to play 4 years here Jeffrey! (He may already have an offer im too drunk from the AD’s suite)

Hail to effing PITT! What a win!

He does have an offer. H2P

He has to be the best Cummings we've had since Vonteego.

I liked the addition at the time. I like old guards from winning programs. If there's another 24 year old guard who averaged 12 or 13 at a mid-major, I'd take him.
Yeah. Cummings is a better version of Luchino from our soccer team. A mid major recruit out of HS, but now a man and light years better in his 5th year. Just a completely different player profile 5 years later. The difference is Cummings is playing like a star and Luchino was a nice role player. I’m not sure, in fact I’m confident Nelly wouldn’t be the player and man he is without the experience he gained leading Colgate to the NCAA tourney.

I was a big fan of getting him from the start. Colgate was really good while he was there and he was the leader. As long as he doesn’t try to do too much and let’s the game come to him, he can really play!

Man rethinking this post from last night, he’s already in my top 10 favorite panthers ever. I love this kid. Everything Pitt basketball was built on, tough, selfless, leader, and yeah pretty damn talented. Just a joy to watch. BK was right all this years ago, I wonder how his career had developed if Pitt had taken him out of Hs

He’s a big reason why I am comfortable that a collapse isn’t coming. Yes we will lose games but he’s the leader and player this program has lacked since Levance. JRob was a great kid and a great representative of this university…but he wasn’t the type of leader Cummings seems to be.

He's a Levance clone, just not as chubby.

Luchini is a good example. A "no-star" recruit like that out of HS is better as a 5th/6th year player than a 3 star, maybe even 4 star kid out of HS. I think Syracuse soccer won the Natty on transfers and that's just how it is now. Nelly is far more important to this team than Luchini was as you said.

Our success had a lot to do with the linkage from BK to Carl to Levance. After that we lost it a bit at the position because Tray and Ashton weren’t quite those kinds of leaders. Yes they both got into coaching, but they didn’t have the intangibles that their predecessors had. And neither did JRob.

Eh, I think Tray was a great leader. He just wasn’t as talented as those guys to boot.

Yea, Tray had a really good senior year but overall didn't have the same level of talent. Gibbs wasnt a PG and the reason had the CBI team his senior year was because Tray was hurt. Had Tray not gotten hurt, we make the NCAAT that year.

Tray was tough as nails
And his shooting became a threat each year

I think Nelly’s closest comparison is tray
And like tray had Brad to control the ball- Burton is the defacto ball handler

Ashton and Tray didn't have the onions. Not their fault. You either have them or you don't.

Tray did
He hit plenty of clutch shots and made lots of clutch defensive plays
Not sure why he was memory holed by so many
I always felt that Tray did not come in as a natural leader, but developed into one over the course of his career. Maybe that's why some people's memories of him differ.

He was even a leader in HS so not sure why
He did get banged up and was limited a bit .
But pound for pound nobody defended harder than him
