He average 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks in 26 minutes per game for a pretty good program in a pretty good league. He played at a much higher level than the other 2 grad transfers yet has played the least by far. I realize he has many shortcomings but the guy can block shots.

Nelson-Ododa reminds me of a long list of players that were better at other schools than they were here (Zeigler, Uchebo, Birch, Durand Johnson, Adams in the NBA).

ANo can't defend without fouling, and is no threat to score.

Durand isn't better at SJU. His shooting is down across the board..he just takes more and plays more.
His scoring jumped 4 PPG with 8 more minutes at Pitt, his scoring has jumped 3 PPG with 9 more mintues at SJU.

Birch played more minutes as well, and his output only slightly improved each year, like a PPG.

stop it.

He is a turnover waiting to happen on offense, and gets into foul trouble.

A player improved after a few years in the NBA over his college play? Seriously, how does that EVER happen?

The "long list" point is completely inaccurate.

ANO is a role player and has gotten as many minutes as he has deserved. BTW, don't forget that he was the starter at the beginning of the season and didn't capitalize because of ineffective play and too much fouling.

Ziegler accomplished the rare feat of being much better at 2 different schools.

How much better do you believe Trey was at TCU vs Pitt? His PPG was up, but his points went up in direct correlation with his minutes. His stats per minute were very similar, versus lower competition. His shooting % went up 2% (44% vs 42%) and he shot 0% from 3 at both schools.

He was definitely better. I know that the metrics say he was pretty much the same player that got a lot more time, but it was more than that. Ziegler looked clueless at Pitt, almost like he was not prepared to play at that level. At TCU he seemed to fit in a lot better, and ended up being a decent player. Nothing special, but a contributor.

It can also be said that that TCU team really needed him to be a scorer, a role that he seemed infinitely more comfortable in.

he didn't improve the team anywhere he was.
Likely a mistake to ever bring him to Pitt.

He still looks lost most of the time to me. And you're comparing most of the others vs. lesser competition.

This is what it's come to? Being troubled about why a player who stinks isn't playing more? ANO had a chance in the cupcake season to earn the spot and he failed.

Some people have to look for anything but the obvious.

We stink on defense...our cutting and screening is lazy, and our motion offense doesn't have much motion most of the time. Mostly because Artis and Young play selfish and settle for bad shots.

His numbers per minute were nearly identical, just played more minutes at lower levels. That means he actually got WORSE at TCU. His numbers were almost always a net negative when he was in the game at Pitt. The answer to give him more minutes may increase his individual stats, but the team would be worse for it.

ANO should barely get off the bench. He can block shots, that's about it. He has some nice post moves, but can't seem to score.

I think Maia plays well, whenever he's in there. He's probably our best rebounder and our best post defender. Plus he gets a fair amount of steals for an inside guy, and he's probably our only player that can hold his own physically against other ACC inside guys. I don't know if he played better in his previous school, but I like him with us. I don't know why Jamie doesn't play him that much anymore since I though rebounding was another of Jamie's principle emphasises.

ANO gets pushed around inside too much in the ACC, plus he has hands of stone.
