I haven't confirmed who the new commit is, but one name to keep an eye on is Shayne Simon,
He's a senior linebacker at Notre Dame who entered the transfer portal last month. Simon was a four-star prospect in the class of 2018 and signed with Notre Dame over most of the high-end offers you would expect for a kid from New Jersey: Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, etc. He played all four seasons at Notre Dame, including eight starts in 2020, but he only played one game this past season after he tore his labrum in the season opener.
As such, Simon could apply a redshirt to the 2021 season, be a redshirt senior in 2022 and have the option to come back as a super senior in 2023.
We'll see if Simon ends up being the new commit, but I think there's a pretty good chance it's him.
