Something needs to change. We can't keep rolling out the same lineups. It doesn't work.

C - GDG 25 Kante 15
F - Jorge 25 Austin 15
F - Austin 15 Dunn 25
G - Leggett 32 Cummings 8
G - Lowe 34 Cummings 6

1. Corhen can't play. The little bit of offense he gives you isnt worth how terrible of a rebounder he is. I'm not sure Kante is any better of a rebounder but if given extended minutes, he can't be worse than Corhen.

2. Need more Jorge to space the floor. Need less of Lowe/Leggett/Dunn together. They are too similar like McGowens/Johnson. You need a shooter in there like Jorge or even Delalic to space the floor.

Is Corhen really that much worse than the other 6 guys in the 7-man rotation?

But I guess everyone has to have that one guy to place the lion’s share of the blame on.

I like the idea of trying to hide Amsal and Jorge in a zone in an effort to get both of their shooting abilities on the floor more often and to try and space things better.

But, let's be honest - it doesn't matter. We don't have the talent.

Knowing how well I've seen us play at times, I feel it's equally an execution problem as much as just talent.

And I've not saying we have loads of talent.

But we have enough talent to have beaten Virginia by double digits.

Corhen and the twins have hands of stone and I don’t mean like Roberto Duran, the Pitt inside players can’t seem to grab loose balls inside

I've also seen Amsal (Wisconsin) and Kante (Ohio State) do some nice things. Apparently they weren't all that sustainable, though, so I'm not sure we can trust what we've seen of this team at its peak when we do the things that "travel" so poorly. A lot of teams can look good during momentous runs filled with hot shooting. Shoot, I've seen Penn State look like world beaters a few times this year while flipping through the channels.

I would go

GDG
JDG
Kante
Cummings
Amsal

And

Corhen
Dunn
Austin
Ish
Lowe

20 minutes for each set of 5
10 minutes each and then switch the 5 on floor. See who wants it more. See who rises to the challenge. No one may be back next year.

Yep, it's the coaching (and lack of a system) that is the bigger issue.

I think some people are getting carried away with we have no talent.

I find that just wrong.

It is how the talent is being used and how our coach has decided to play.

Capel wants to play small. Corhen, Austin, Dunn, Leggett, Lowe.

Lowe, Leggett and Dunn do too much of the same thing. All three can not be on the floor together.

Corhen resides in their space as well. We become predictable and easy to defend.

Well, it's not like Lowe-Leggett-Austin-GDG-Corhen - a pretty popular lineup we've used this season - solves the problem either.

It is better. It creates better spacing. You have two outside shooters that need defended, not one.

Well my point is we use this lineup all the time. It's not some foreign concept that might lead to some pleasant results if we experiment with it. It's probably our most frequently-used starting lineup this season.

I kind of do think this is a talent issue. It's just that the lack of talent happens to be in defense and rebounding, as opposed to the areas that are typically associated with lacking talent. But I will certainly concede that the offense could play smarter, more team-oriented basketball.

It doesn't matter if you aren't going to run any offense or pass the ball. They can space the floor all we want, but if nobody passes the ball the defense won't care. Lowe, Leggett and Dunn are only concerned with getting their shot. They had 5 assists last night to UVA's 20.

They're 191st in assists per game. This team doesn't pass the ball.

Even if they dont pass, you would have 5 shooters on the floor so more room for Lowe and Leggett to drive and finish.

Last year, Capel inserted Lowe into the starting lineup and it was a huge spark, so his unwillingness to make changes this year is mind boggling to me.

It’s clear the starting lineup is completely unprepared for every ACC game. Mix it up. Do something.

For the first time all year, he did acknowledge some potential changes in the lineup in the presser, so hopefully he actually does try something new before it’s mathematically too late.

What this team needs is to work on physicality and playing unselfish team basketball. Practices need to get a lot harder and focus on rebounding and playing physical. They also need to stop the hero ball and emphasize off the ball movement, less dribbling and more passing. Until that happens it won’t matter who gets minutes

That's not Jeff. That's a new coaching staff....

Yes. Butter finger hands. Never remember a team so often getting their hands on ball and still losing it to other team

More like a lack of hand strength. Corhen and GDG can get to the basketball but it often gets tipped away by the offensive player. A lot of rebounds we actually do get are ones where Corhen or GDG can't squeeze it and it gets tipped to one of our guards. It's like we never get a clean rebound. I cannot understate how big of a problem that rebounding is.

The rebounding issue is Corhen and GDG are weak players for how big they are. I don’t think GDG or his brother put on any muscle mass since they arrived at Pitt. They never box out or use their hips to gain position to get rebounds.

promote O'Toole to HC for the remainder of the season...

sit Lowe, can't run the point, let him spell Ish...

let Dunn/Bebbah run an actual set

play Jorge, Amsal, in space (just don't let him dribble lol), sit Gillo... it's painful watching him play in the post... can't no longer hit 3's consistently too...

sit Cam too, he seems dazed and confused and for as big as he is, he gets molested by other bigs more often than not... ask him for a refund too...

play Papa for the remainder of the season, granted some miracle, Pitt isn't going dancing, let Papa get ready for November...

get a new nutrionist, new S&C dude too...

where is Dark Helmet? depression it's a bitch... hope not...

Pitt actually has 3 pt shooters. It wouldn’t be pretty defensively, but if you want 3 pt shooting, throw out:

JDG
Dunn
Amsal
Cummings
Austin

Leggett back to 6th man role. Lowe addition by subtraction.

Let’s see what happens.

We would certainly reach our token 9-point deficit a lot faster, haha.

But I don't hate the idea of letting Lowe come off the bench. Something has to change there.

This is really incredible streak and I'd like to know if Stallings's teams ever accomplished this. We have trailed by 6+ in the 1st Half in each of the last 13 P5 games and by at least 9 in 11 of the 13.
