By your math 8/20 (jamies last 5 years) is okay. Capel doesnt even have that. He's on the path of missing it again. So one play in game in 7 years or by your math 1 in 5 years is a good job.

Yes, Jamie's last 5 years is fine. More than fine. Jamie was 3 for 5. Capel is 1 for 5 but absolutely should have been 2 for 5. That was a really good team last year and I count that as an NCAAT team. Totally rigged. It was stolen! Still, yes, Capel 2 is behind Dixon 2 pace.

Yeah, lots of selective revising of history going on here. It would be like me saying...

"Cowher won three Super Bowls. You don't take that first one against the Cowboys away from him just because his QB threw two bad picks. And then that game against Arizona was almost all his players. So he won three."

Capel has yet to land a bid into a top 64 spot, which is what most coaches in recent history have had to deal with. That's not good. We're seriously arguing over play-in games we did and didn't make? In seven seasons, that's the best we can do?

We really don't need to rehash the Dixon tenure, but, clearly he was lost at the end. That last recruiting class of Kithcart, Manigualt, and Clark was as bad as any class from 1970 on. The program was sinking fast. Capel has gotten better talent but, but he fails to get the best out of his guys. It would be nice to get the best of both worlds but that doesn't happen here at Pitt. If we could couple Capel's recruiting with Dixon's coaching ability we might have something. I would have loved to see what Dixon could do with last year's or even this year's team.

Anyway, I haven't thrown in the towel on this year's team yet. Clearly, if we hope to finish strong, Capel is going to have to show he can get these guys to defend hard and get them to run an offense where there is motion and not strictly dribble drive. Show me there is more to your coaching abilities than just rolling out the ball. Draw up some plays to free shooters.

I think it's unrealistic to expect the offense to change mid-season.

For who? Some maybe. But plenty were still calling for his head. Dixon’s tourney body of work wasn’t anything special (stating the obvious) so you’re also lowering the bar to just getting in.

I don’t wanna rehash all of this. I’m aware as it’s been posted on here a lot. I was referring to MANY on this board. Zero influence, I’m aware. But the pitchforks were out here.

I'm not sure Corhen will be asked back. He can do some things offensively but he is about as bad of a rebounder as you can be. The only way you can have Corhen back is if you bring in a big-time rebounder and potentially move Corhen to the 4.
