The new assistant coach continues to payoff in recruiting. The Panthers’ latest commitment is Jace Jackson, a 2B from Georgia, who also plays for the Tennessee Mojo. I believe she is a 2023 recruit and recently was ranked by Extra Innings as the number 49 player in her class nationally. (She might have reclassified for 2022.)
That needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Extra Innings has 3 or 4 different Top 100 lists per class. Also, she previously was committed to Jackson State. I’m not aware of many top 100 players committing to Jackson State.
She is described by one scouting service as very fast; a slap hitter who occasionally can hit for power; and someone who has great range defensively.
The results haven’t been seen on the field yet, but our new assistant is sure expanding Pitt’s recruiting profile. Personally, I preferred Holly’s focus on Southern California and I think she was on her way to signing some top level recruits from there when she left, but this is better than the new coach’s prior recruiting strategy (which was haphazard at best).
