Seems like a big pickup. It certainly seems like Fisher is going all out for the final season with Lund and Ndee.

Yeah - this seems like a big deal. Feel like we have top 5 roster .

Coach might be going all out for next season, but the new transfer is likely to have four years of eligibility at Pitt!! Great credentials and a returning freshman is likely to have more upside than a returning senior.

So basically, we lose two key players from an Elite Eight team and have six new players coming in, all with outstanding credentials.

I think Fisher must be the type of coach that good players want to play for because they know he will make them better.

He doesn’t seem to make recruiting mistakes, so I’m wondering if next year, with a year of learning his system under her belt, the JUCO player who hardly played this season will also become a contributor. Two years ago, I didn’t think the Middle Blocker who was set to replace the one who was a senior that year showed much, but she was solid in the Spring season. It seems like his system takes time to learn but once you master it, it maximizes your ability.

Apparently she had ACL surgery in March, so depending on how rehab goes, we may not see Diouf this coming fall. Still an outstanding pickup though.

I noticed she was injured but didn't know what it was. They have a lot of depth at OH. Even if she can't make it in this season, she should help compensate for the loss of Lund in 2022.

It would definitely be interesting to hear from Fisher how they'll deal with the extra eligibility. They seem to use redshirts more than other sports. VVG technically has 4 full years of eligibility left even after a RS. After this season, they'll have to decide whether Lockwood and Starks are worth an extra scholarship hit.

Right. How many OHs can you have and keep all of them happy with their playing time?

Can’t see Lund sitting much.

Volleyball has a rotation. Many outside hitters get rested when they would be in the back row. Those that don’t are those who are good at hitting from the back row. Our OHs do get subbed out. It is nice to have enough good OH to substitute them into the front row at times when your starting OHs would be in the back row. Fisher did that quite a bit last year, but he only had two subs that he used very much and only one he used consistently. I’m sure he likes having more options there. But, if it is true that the transfer from Oklahoma is out next year with an injury, he obviously recruited her as a replacement for the future. It’s good that we are in a solid enough position for him to do that.

In more good news, as many familiar with HS volleyball have noted, girl volleyball players tend to commit very early, often in 10th grade. So, there is a delay between the time a program becomes a player on the college scene and the time when it can land top 25 HS players. We should be approaching the time that Fisher can do that. 8th through 10th grade volleyballers are likely to have seen Pitt for the first time in this year’s tournament.

Did this transfer fall through?

Yeah good catch. They seem to have retracted their announcements about her. She was coming off an injury and probably wouldn't have played in 2021. Maybe she decided it wasn't worth the trouble or maybe her injury situation worsened.
