I see next season as the final make or break season for Coach Capel as far as support from many fans (including myself) is concerned.

IMHO, Coach Capel must manage to build a roster with the addition of transfers and new recruits that yields a team that actually finishes (at a minimum) with a winning overall record and at least near 0.500 in the ACC so as to make the post season next April---an NIT bid at a minimum. Achieving that level of success next season appears, IMO, to be his last chance to maintain support from Pitt hoops fans.

I don't believe I am alone in feeling this way.

We should probably know in a month or two whether the new roster looks strong enough for such a needed outcome to be within the realm of possibility. Fingers crossed!

Yes , that's all fair.

As time goes by I keep feeling next season could be historic but not in a good way.

Thanks for sharing this! Interesting that they consider the ECU transfer a big man, thought he was more of a 3.

He’s a bit like Toney, in that he can fit either at 3 or at Forward. Different type of player, but I don’t think you’d lose as much with him transferring up than you would with a mid/low major guy.

I agree 100% with you. I think this year was a hot mess for many teams. Obviously there were many chemistry issues with this years team. Next year they will have a somewhat experienced back court coming back. If and it's a big if Champ comes back along with 2 big men (1 with legal issues and a recruit) then we will see. It just seems to me Coach Capel is recruiting with a more long range plan for the team. Maybe he has been assured by the AD that he will be here for the long haul. I don't know, just my opinion. I know many on this board look around at other schools and expect results immediately, which is their right. I for one, have no problem with it taking a bit longer. I would like to see improvement in the team along with talent coming in.

4 years is immediately?

Interesting. How would he fit into the lineup if Champagnie returns?
IMO, it could work in a two foward small ball line up, but one would end up defending a center a lot.

This is part of why I really dont see him coming to Pitt even if they get Reid. If I were him I would want a team with a good, established center ...

I think with Toney gone we may see Champ at the 3 more this year especially if we land Reid and either Gardner or another 4 and Hugley is back.
