I would have liked to have seen Pitt go to a nickel and blitz a different db on each down.

Like someone else said - if you can't cover - you have to blitz.

And if you're going to blitz, you;d better get home.

We blitzed all game against UNC. They were ready for it.

I would like to see them try running a nickel with a zone behind it. Keep the guys in front of them and stop some of these huge plays they are giving up. We are playing 4-3 then walking a safety(whitehead) up on a lot of plays. Thats fine against GT but not against passing teams. Need to be a little less aggressive in hopes that the other team will beat themselves. One things for sure the current scheme has been a disaster against good passing teams going back to last year.

To be fair, PITT did have 4 sacks, with a safety and a forced fumble by blitzing against UNC. Another sure sack by Maddox was wiped out by an obvious face mask that wasn't called, even though you could see Maddox's head completely turn on contact.

Ahhh the obvious blown call year after year when we play Carolina. Last year half their line had to get confirmation from the refs because they were so shocked no flag was thrown.

How would you characterize Whitehead's play so far this season?

I was afraid they wouldn't call the multiple holds on the first Switzer punt return that went for a TD. Not saying that this missed call would have changed the outcome of the game, but it certainly impacted the game with around 3 minutes to go.

It's tough to say. The UNC game was the first game that I have been able to attend this year; and Whitehead looked like he was tasked with covering too much field. This is mostly due to the lack of speed/positioning by the other players in the secondary. In other words, he's having to try and cover the deficiencies of guys like Lewis, Maddox, and Webb. He's an incredible player who is a lot of fun to watch, I just think he is in a no-win situation right now.

The crazy thing that impacted the outcome.... the UNC missed FG. Make that kick and they're down 3, time running down they probably kick and go to OT instead of going for the TD.

Pitt's secondary is horrendous so maybe not, but the clock was becoming that much of a factor that they could've just sent it to OT. To them they would probably feel like in OT they could still go to the endzone at will so why not.

we'll never get the calls against the Tobacco Road schools, that's just the way it is. We lost the game in the first half, should have been up way more than 19-16 at half.

Agree - Henderson's fumble hurt, but we should have taken a shot down the field there to try for the kill

I felt something had to be going on with Whitehead - He was not playing at anywhere near the level of last season

No, no, no it isn't. There is not systematic collusion by the ACC and ACC officials to give "Tobacco Road schools" calls over the rest of the ACC. Just an absolutely idiotic and small minded assertion.
