How do you think NIL will affect the MLB draft. Do you think top two way prospects like Bubba Chandler and Lonnie White may have gone to college at Clemson and Penn State if they could have got NIL money. I mean with the problems Clemson is having at QB they could have us Chandler

If they had boosters willing to pay them. Do college baseball teams have enough rich guys who are that big of fans that they'll pay enough to keep them out of the draft? I doubt it

If a player is outside the 1st Round, then there are some big-time baseball schools that might. Mississippi State comes to mind.

Isn’t he asking primarily about 2-sport athletes that could choose between MLB or college FB (or BB) and their corresponding NIL opportunities.

My answer to that, assess which sport you think you’re more likely to be successful at professional level and go that route regardless of NIL.

I was for sure talking about two sport athletes. I mean the Pirates have paid over slot for guys like Chandler who i believe was a top 5 QB prospect and Lonnie White who was like the 4th ranked recruit in PA. I'm just curious if getting NIL money would have kept them in college football. It will clearly make it a bit harder for the Pirates to try to pay over slot for these type of players in the latter rounds

I think they'll choose whichever pathway they would rather be a professional. I don't think a guy like Chandler would play college football if he wants to be in the MLB one day, NIL or no NIL.
