How much of Saturday's loss is on the offense/penalties, and how much of it is on the fact that VT's defense played out of its mind for...lets face it one of the if not the best defensive mind in college football the past 3 decades, in his last home game.
Yes our WR need to learn how to haul in a contested catch. For the love of god we need to find a reliable TE, someone to get the ball too when Pickett is running for his life back there. Our offensive line needs to work on one thing in the off season....Opening a hole for the running back.
But lets face it VTs defense had something else last weekend they had something to play for send out the old guy with a shutout. Senior day, last home game for Foster, team has been on a role.
Call me an optimist but, I liked what I saw from our Defense, with the way our offense couldn't move the ball and we kept giving them short fields...This game should have been a lot more lopsided.
Lets just forget it and move on, beat BC get the best bowl game we can and prepare for next season. I see this season...regardless of what happens in the next 2 games as a definite step forward.
Defense it one of the best in the country, the whole D-Line comes back next season and we get Weaver back. Yes we lose Hamlin and Jackson from the DBs but I go with next man up time for all of this recruiting top DBs to pay off. It's a shame we lose Kylan Johnson, but I think Pine will step in nicely and Bright has shown me he can be a beast. So I don't see defense falling off at all.
Offensively, Pickett is back, the RBs are back the WHOLE line comes back. We lose Ffrench (BIG loss) but Jacques-Louis, Mack, Wayne will make a formidable trio of WRs...WE NEED A TE. But another season under Whipple's teaching I see this offense taking a step forward next season. Just need to get the running game going.
