1. Effort = success more often than not. Last night was an example.
2. As well as Sidy has played.....we are MUCH better when X isn't sitting.
3. Trey is out of control 90% of the time when he has the ball. If he settles down, a majority of possessions, we'll be a lot more effective on offense.
4. Haven't checked the box score, but felt like Ellison was a turnover machine, and shot badly, too.
Capel must think his age is more valuable than his skills?
5 Toney is a player......if he works on his shooting hard as he plays...will be a 4-year star.
6. Capel doesn't seem to panic or get too upset. Steady hand with the guys.
7. Hughes wearing a Pitt uniform gets us 2 extra wins this year. Solid offensively as a traditional low post player.
8. I hope Dambrot does well...it's good for Pgh hoops.
9. Perusing the rosters stunned me...Pitt has 3 guys from PA, the Dukes 2. And I believe they are ALL walk-ons. None played. That has to change.
10. Loved paying $10 for a Miller Lite. My wife asked me to buy her a flask for Christmas!

Regarding Point #9, at the game last night my friend and I were reminiscing back to when both rosters were stocked with Western PA players who grew up competing against each other. And that is what made the City Game (or Steel Bowl) such a heated rivalry.

Plus, with so many well known players that they followed and they saw play in high school, the crowds were passionate and loyal.

Who could ever forget Mossie Murphy leading the Duquesne fans in cheers (Shoo Shoo Rah Rah) and Tiger Paul Auslander across the Civic Arena court running around and leading the cheers of P-I-T-T?!!

I'm sorry, No. 7, Hughes. Who is that?

Ellison played the most number of minutes last night so Coach Capel must see something he likes.

I was at a City Game at the Arena back in the 80s when I was a teenager. I screamed “You suck Mossie!” He turned and looked up at me and gave me a double barrel middle finger salute!

Good cliiffnotes. Agree with you on 3, Trey is out of control most of the time. I was thinking that in past games and when watching yesterday......and at the same time, whether lucky or good, he was getting the foul call on most of those out of control drives. So it all worked out.

Felt like the entire team was out of control yesterday. I love our aggression but we need to dial it back at times to a "controlled aggression."

Ellison played the most number of minutes last night so Coach Capel must see something he likes.

Ellison scored 13 points, had 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 turnovers, played good defense ...... he was 0-3 on 3 pointers but 5-6 inside the arc, 3-4 on FT's ..... so he certainly had a very solid game.

Game reminded me of an old time Big East game .... all that was missing were Burr and Higgins .... haha !

These notes are a little long for my taste.

We have played 2 A10 teams who have Centers who would easily be our best Centers since Gary McGhee (besides Adams and not counting Zanna playing out of position). I can't believe how poor our C recruiting has been. If we just could get an A10 5, we'd be so much better
