Give coach credit he saw the dismal performances out of that spot and has given another player a chance. Greatest motivator in the world, the bench. Wilson not bad so far

He said in his postgame that Chris Jones could not go, other than the few minutes he played in the first half, due to the arm or elbow injury he got in the Ville game. So, he mostly used Wilson to spell Smith at SG but Slim played some there also (along with playing at SF).

I should say this though.... Sterling Smith has not looked that good so I am agreeing with the OP. He can and has hit 3balls but seems to need to be wide open to hit them... and him taking it to the hoop is kinda like Ashton Gibbs taking it to the hoop... in other words... best if he didn't try. Usually a missed shot or a TO.

Jones has been pretty inconsistent also... though we have a problem with that in general on the team.

Wilson has looked ragged but that is not unexpected for a freshman... and he seems to be getting better as the season wears on.

Agree with sentiments on Smith. He has regressed, doesn't even look to shoot anymore and really isn't doing much for us on the court. Needs to get less playing time moving forward.

I was watching Smith in warmups before the game. He was hitting 3's from all over the court. Then you put him in a game, and he's hot and cold. Mostly cold. Hard to understand.

Really? Lol sure if you say so. You have no idea what you're talking about but sure, ok.
I have a hard time believing, as an avid poker player myself, that your inability to keep your emotions steady is anything but a detriment to your game.

Seems like you'd be on tilt the first time you had a big pocket pair cracked.

Also, seems like you'd be just full of tells, given how your emotions and mood is so easy to discern on a message board. I think in person you'd be like a big neon sign every hand.

But who knows.... maybe at the table you're a savant.

I think it's unfair too that he makes fun of souf's occupation, when he basically doesn't have a job himself. I never mock a mans job, so long as it's a legit job.

It really doesn't bother me in the slightest.
I certainly have zero reason to deny what my profession is or feel remotely ashamed about it.
It provides me with a rather comfortable life.

When the game starts they put an opposition player in front of him. Not that hard to understand.

I think the biggest problem with Smith... and Jones also... is they sometimes play good defense... staying between their man and the basket on drives... but other times do NOT play good defense. Consistently inconsistent.

So, lately we've been hearing Dixon say 'We need another guard that can defend'.

THAT, is getting a message across to Smith and Jones... and also a motivation to Wilson. Wilson seems to be a good defensive player but still very inexperienced. So, the message to Wilson is that if he can get his D up a bit... he will be seeing more PT... at SG as well as PG.

The message to Smith and Jones... is if they do not get their D up... playing consistent good D... their butts may be seeing more of the bench.

Robinson is our best perimeter defender. Most consistent but... he screws up at times as well.... getting off his man and getting caught up with other players and giving his man an open shot.

The other option here is Slim. In the game yesterday Dixon played him 15 minutes, 9 at SF and 6 at SG.

Slim... sometimes looks like a deer in the headlights on D.... but when he stays between his man and the basket his length gives opposing guards a major problem in trying to shoot over him. And with the 20 points in just 15 minutes he had yesterday... he really seems to be coming on and thus you want to get him more PT. So, fair chance we will be seeing more of Slim at SG as there is not that much time at SF with Artis there.

If my daughter became a pharmacist in a major hospital, I would be extremely proud. If she became a professional gambler, I would feel like I failed her somehow.

In summary: Here is the actual deal--

1. Jones is injured
2. Grad transfer Smith is only here for this season
3. Wilson needs development minutes since he will need to start next year.

Those three things have way more to do with Wilson's getting extra PT than Smith's less than fully satisfactory play vs Louisville.

Throw in the chance that at least one of our two high scoring forwards are not with us next year and the same reasons apply to getting Cam Johnson more playing time. Johnson may end up as a 2 or a 3 but more shooting nights like yesterday would be really nice from either position.

Seriously man why are you all of a sudden being such a dick again? You just love the digs at me don't you, not knowing anything about my professional history or when I started playing poker full-time, how much I make and have saved(a lot).

Then you want to knock me for bringing up Souf playing in the pharmacy? The guy insults me every chance he gets, doesn't know how to disagree without calling out names like "you're stupid" and I'm not nearly the only one who feels that way. 40,000+ posts doesn't mean he can have carte blanche to insult people all the time.

Do me a favor - I know you don't like me which is cool, but stop trying to act like I am the bad guy with someone like Souf. He is a mean-spirited poster to a select bunch on here including me. It hasn't changed. So if I want to go at him from time to time I will.

Really man, your bias is blatant.
Do whatever thing you want. It makes no difference to me. It is a profession I don't respect. I wouldn't choose it for my family, and I see no reason to mock a person for being a pharmacist, it's a good job. Souf drives me crazy sometimes, but he also has good insights. I have no issues with him. He is level headed mostly. I don't care if you rip him bad, he deserves it and I think he actually would enjoy the banter, but there are several people who tease him for being a pharmacist, and I don't get that.

Well - THIS....But I was too lazy to type it all when i saw the OP.

Kudos to Cameron Johnson for grabbing ahold of the opportunity.

Damon Wilson has played more, and as a result has looked a bit more at home and fluid on the floor.

I am mean spirited to half wits who continually bash players.
That you are so offended by my comments provides a hearty level of irony to your schtick.

You want to bash anonymously college kids. When you, a 40 year old , have your stupidity put under the microscope by anonymous posters, you whine and cry- saying it's not fair and mean.

You're a mentally weak manchild.

I'm comfortable in my skin.
I actually don't mind the criticisms of James. He has his limitations, and we all know what they are. But by the thirtieth time in a few hours, I think I started getting annoyed. My three year old does the same thing either when she wants attention, doesn't get her way or something like that. It usually ends up in her getting a timeout. A few other people posted the repetitive posting annoyed them too (of course, he didn't call them out, only me. Who REALLY has the bias?).

YOU netted almost a million dollars? lol. Sure bud. How much do you donate to Pitt?
I wonder how that works. is it against other professional poker players? Who would one have to beat to make that much? I hope it's rich Saudis, just to stick it to them.

I play high stakes poker cash games in Vegas and California and tournaments. It makes no difference whether you believe me or not. I usually make $500,000 a year, last year was better than most. As for what I donate to Pitt - more than your sorry ass, that I am sure off.

People who play high stakes poker must not be very smart then.

Ok, personalities aside, how does one join that? Is it all professionals, or just random people? You probably get to meet a lot of foreigners with money I imagine.

Not related to him, but if someone wins a million, that means someone lost a million. Who in the world has a million dollars to lose? At the end, it's a zero sum game, someone wins, someone loses. No growth. That's part of the reason I don't like it.

Mostly rich tourists with money to burn. It's like taking candy from a baby.

So they allow pros to play with tourists? I can see why a pro would have an advantage. That would be a big reason I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't want to lose everything to someone who had a great advantage over me. What's the point.

Anyone with a bankroll can play. You can be a beginner or have played for decades. It's all about the money.
Those people are dumb then. On the other hand, you can't take it with you. I suspect a lot of heirs are pissed.

You can't take it with you, but you sure as hell can give it to family member or a worthy cause in an effort to improve the world you leave behind.

I have weeks where I'll lose a grand or 2 or 3 and then in 1 night I'll win $40,000.

I have never gambled besides fantasy sports, and that is less than hundred bucks a year. I cannot wrap my brain around why someone would just blow their money. I am doing ok, but between my daughter, and possibly charities, I would rather have my money go elsewhere. Maybe I don't have enough money to be able to understand it.

My job is stressful, but that would be too stressful for me. So seriously, and I am NOT trying to be mean, if being down several grand doesn't bother you, then how can being down ten in the first half get to you. To me, the money is real. Sports are just entertainment. You are an enigma, that's for sure. :)

Edit, it's probably not stressful for you, because I am the dumb tourist, and you are the pro. I am not nervous about my job, because I am good at it, so I guess I get it.
