It's half way through the forth quarter. Dayshanette Harris is 8-24 from the field. All the rest of the Pitt players combined are also 8-24 from the field.

Additionally Harris scored 12 points in the 3rd quarter. Her teammates total? Zero.

God bless you for watching the women's team.

Glad you brought that up. I actually watched the game. I counted over 8 possessions no other teamate touched the ball. I watched the mens game and it's similar to X and Trey. Except she shot 29 times. Stats won't tell the true story

I don't even commit on the men anymore because by reading the posts we all feel the same way. I had hope for the women because they're so young but i have doubts now with Harris and crew. Iike Rita though.

Harris is talented, and will be a very good player at Pitt in time.
Right now she still makes freshman mistakes, rushes her game,
and is sometimes out of control. Once she learns to settle
down and let the game come to her, she'll do much better IMO.
She has to do a lot because it's a team relying on first year
players. Their best player, (senior) Bugg has been out for
awhile and that hurts. they miss her experience and presence
on the floor.
The good news is the freshman who are playing and starting
will be back along with some decent recruits. Their record
doesn't show it but they do have some talent, and they're
playing hard. They don't give up, but they're so inexperienced.
I have to admit, I thought they'd at least win a few ACC games.
The ACC is a tough conference, and the BC game tonight
showed the difference in talent and experience.

She tries to do too much because there isn't really anyone else who can do it on a consistent basis. She'll play better when she has better teammates and doesn't think she has to try to do it all.

Another bit of symmetry — the women’s team, like the men’s team, needs to find some good shooters...

And the women’s team, like the men’s team, is playing with a limited roster...

Go Pitt.

Women's teams even more than men's teams need great outside shooters. The 3-ball is incredibly important in women's hoops, IMHO.

Very true! I've watched most of our games and we have some
young athletic players. They do lack in three point shooters. Gabbie
Green a junior transfer is the best outside threat (actually the only
outside threat) on the team. Bugg was the best, but she's out
injured and it really shows.
The BC game was a good look at where our program is in relation to
the rest of the league. BC is tied for 6th out of 15 teams. They beat
us by 11 the other night ( we scored 26 in 4th qtr, against their
subs). I'd say they're on average 15-20 pts. better right now, maybe
15 if we had Bugg.
They are for more experienced, disciplined, and balanced than we
are at this point. They also have height that rebounds and scores.
They're a threat inside and they hit their threes. They have talented
freshmen. Their frosh guard, Jaelynn Batts is as talented as anyone
we have, and BC hardly relies on her.

Now this is BC, not Louisville. It gives us an idea of how much ground
we have to make up if we're gonna become a force in this league. I
thought we'd win a few in ACC. I also thought we'd show a little more
on court discipline by this time, but this is what happens with new,
inexperienced players. Coach White has recruited better, but so do
the other coaches in this league. Another basketball rebuild in the
making here at Pitt.

as Huey Lewis once sang...

Cool is a rule, but
Sometimes bad is bad

Your question was not directed at me, but one thing that makes it seem
important on this board, is that it's a glaring weakness with this particular
Pitt team.
However in the course of a game, I can't magine it being any more
impotant to women's basketball as compared to men's.

Well I agree that it is a glaring weakness for this Pitt team. But I am genuinely interested in why DC thinks that way, because I can't imagine why it would be more important in the women's game than the men's either.
