Looking at Pitt's ticket site tonight, they've only sold about 500 tickets so far not including the Zoo. Hopefully the Zoo kids show up but with it being a Tuesday night NIT game, I'm not that hopeful. I was hoping for an NIT home game but I was afraid we'd get a CBI-like crowd and that's what it appears we will get.

I know this program has come a long way but I remember the last time we were in the NIT in 2001, we got about 4000 for the St. Bonaventure game and sold out the Mississippi State game. Granted, Pitt fans were excited to even make the NIT back then but hasn't our fan base grown enough in sheer numbers to get a couple thousand to an NIT game?

I'm looking forward to going tonight but the crowd isn't going to be pretty. Gonna look real bad on ESPN.

I have regularly received emails from the ticket office, but I didn't get anything regarding tonight's game. Also, 2 weeks ago I called them about upgrading my football tickets to club seats. They said they had to verify that I had made my donation and would call me back before the end of the day. I still have not heard from them. I'll probably call back on Thursday to ask for the best seats that did not get renewed, but it almost seems like they feel they are doing you a favor by allowing you to buy tickets.

Re: all tickets should be 5 dollars! Students, and upmc employees free.

With that you may get 5 to 6 k..

As it's stands look for no more than 2200. I will raise a pint O'Guinness to the Panthers tonight!

Way to go Pitt Women!

Let me first ask. Did you actually make the required donation?
Second, the renewal deadline is tomorrow...so, they can't tell you if there is availability, yet.

Just a couple things.

I had no problem moving into our club seats years ago.. I called, made my donation, and asked for best available in the preferred club section, and paid right then.

Tuesday isn't the best night and most people are fairweather fans. I won't be there, but I live in Baltimore, if I lived IN Pittsburgh I'd go, but this is a meaningless, or so they say, NIT game with a 19-14 team, on a 4 game losing streak, but I have the DVR set, since I may not be home by 7, and am ready to hang on every minute of this game!

When the NCAAs start, I may glance at a few minutes, but not much of it! I don't even have any brackets filled out yet, so that whole tourney means very little to me. But tonight's game, I care about big time and will follow intenty the NIT above the NCAAs until Pitt goes down.

Going to this game is like going to a Non-BCS bowl game only much more convenient and cheaper. I'll be there.

Great point, people will take vacation time, spend 100s or over a thousand dollars to fly to some god forsaken city to watch a middling 6-6 team play another middling 6-6 team in a meaningless game, but won't drive an hour at very little expense to watch the hoops team. We are largely a football school though, so not overly surprising.

Yes, I did make a donation. Yes, they told me there is availability.

There may be better seats available after tomorrow.

I should have said..it's not actionable until people do not meet the renewal deadline.
You'll be okay...but, don't expect them to call you back.

Maybe they should be staffed appropriately to deliver better customer service..but, I'll be the rare person to say, I've never had any problems with the Panther Club and with getting tickets or moving seats.

I'd recommend calling the Panther CLub and let them drive the ship.

I wonder if ...

... the price for tickets was determined simply by Pitt, or if the NIT has some say.

Having said this, really don't think the price is the barrier for most people. I think people are going to go or not $5 or $20.

I do however, agree that students should be free.

I don't know what the story is with student seats. I hope something has been done to fill the student section. Otherwise, there may not be much more than 1,500 in total attendance.

I just mentioned the football tickets because I'm not a Pitt alumni and there are always attendance threads on the football board. I'm not really complaining about the ticket office, just saying that with a little better customer service they might attract more casual fans.

As far as tickets for the game tonight, I probably would have bought them if I had an email yesterday and could have clicked on a link and bought them easily. But I was very busy yesterday and at $ 25 each I just didn't feel like making the effort when I could watch the game on ESPN.

None of this is a big deal to me, just saying that a little extra effort on Pitt's part could make a difference in attendance by casual fans.

While I certainly expect.....

a small crowd and have said so previously, your estimate of 500 tickets sold is way off. A quick count of the sideline sections and I come up with 1300 sold. Add in a couple hundred in the ends, a couple hundred students, and the 200-300 cheerleaders and dance team members along with some walk up sales and you probably get to the 2000 - 2500 range.

Re: good points DT

I think some may be watching pitt baseball beat PSU. Some students will be going to CJ Barney's for green beer instead! I know CJ's is long gone.....

But if ticket prices were not set by NIT...

Why not try a gimmick? I guess if you were allowing free admission, and still only had 2k in tonight, it looks worse!

A&M NIT TIX

NIT tix for the A&M versus Montana game are $15 reserved and $10 general admission. Hopefully Pitt and A&M will win their first two games and I can see my alma mater "Whoop the Aggies" in College Station.

Hey if you want him there that bad, buy his ticket and pay for his gas! Now he has less to worry about but unless your willing to pony up then you shouldn't make people feel bad for spending their time and money/resources somewhere other where you want them to! C'mon folks relax a bit

This game comes after being in the Big Dance 11 out of 12 years.

The last NIT games came after a decade in the wilderness. Huge diffeence.

this shows one of the Pitt fan base's biggest problems. A sense of entitlement brought on by the success of the very same man some fans are trying to run out of town.

You are about 150 or so short ...

I spent a $1,000 on booze in Ft. Worth (New Years eve, New Years Day, day after New Years w/6 Pitt tailgate buddies, wife a local nephew and his family) i.e., a GREAT time! I didn't even try to get to Oakland tonight.....you sir are correct...."We are largely a football school"!
