I just checked and the flight time from Pittsburgh to Okinawa is estimated at 21 hours (not direct... connecting flights).

That's almost an entire day sitting in a plane.

So, we get to see if our team comes out STIFF or FLAT against the Zags.

And then there is the return flight home.

Yeah, from Seattle the time is estimated at 16 hours so the Zags are suspect to this possibility as well.

I really don't think scheduling this game was a good idea... in fact a BAD idea... but we will see.

Why is it a bad idea, because we might lose? isn't this the kind of game people keep saying we should be playing? Seems no matter who we schedule, someone will have a beef with it.

I think Z is only concerned with the game location not with the opponent. Hopefully you schedule the trip so you have at least 24 hours after arrival before you play the game.

Oh, that I'd agree with. Having lived in Japan 5 years, I know that trip well, and you're wasted the day after arriving. Some great beaches in Okinawa too, they should go early and hang out and get some practices in. But otherwise, this is exactly the kind of game we must schedule to remain relevant.

It's an experience most of these kids would otherwise never get a chance to get. That's a major plus right there. It shouldn't be all about hoops.

They should have at least two and hopefully three days after they arrive to prepare for the game. You need a day to get 'unwasted' and then another day for a reasonable practice. A third day for another reasonable practice would probably be worth it but not absolutely necessary.

The game is scheduled to be played at 7 PM ET and shown on ESPN. That means (if I have calculated correctly) that it will be played at 8 AM in the morning there... and in fact the next day already from when we see it.

I have no problem with us scheduling this game ..... it is a tough early season challenge because of the travel and the opponent ....... this game will let us know where we stand and where we need to go ..... there will be lessons learned in this experience which could help us down line.

The 8AM local start time is odd. I mean its great for us, Pitt fans, 7PM on a Friday night but its a 4PM weekday afternoon start for Gonzaga fans. Not sure why ESPN couldnt just start the game at 10AM local, which is 6 Pacific and 9 Eastern.

Dearest Pitt hater. Earlier you claimed you hate this game. Then why do you care when it is and why do you care about Gonzaga fans. Go away. I'm sure other school are ready for your manure.

I cant believe I'm responding to you, but for the record, I love the game. Just think the 8AM local start time could have been avoided. No big deal.
