Mike, who would've thought that Missouri would beat SMU and UNI would take UL to 5? There's a lot of parody within the top 1/2 of the tournament. These two matches were definitely closer than what the girls wanted but they hung in there. Always better to learn from a win and we are home again next weekWell, that was one of the worst sweeps I have seen this year. We didn’t play very well in either match but swept both.
Some questions:
Did we win a single point all night on any of our designated servers’ serves? I can’t remember one.
How do you stop Babcock from dominating? Apparently having a 6’7 blocker helps a lot.
We won tonight primarily on mistakes Oklahoma made. I don’t think we are going to go very far unless we up our game considerably.
I’m a fan of Griffin’s. Don’t ask me why. But I can’t recall the last time I’ve seen us win a point on her service. Some questions:

We won a couple of points when Cat Flood served. But to be honest, we didn't have many serving runs tonight. It was back and forth all night. I agree that we need to step it up next week. Having said that, the tournament is tough and not many teams are sweeping this round. Just keep finding ways to win. H2PWell, that was one of the worst sweeps I have seen this year. Pitt has had them on sale since early in the week. Call the ticket office if you didn't get the link in an email. Why are Louisville tickets for sale next weeks but seemingly Pittsburgh isn’t? Am I missing something?

Here’s the link for tickets. $20.00 gets you a seat for both games on Thursday, and the elite eight match on Saturday. Times TBD.Why are Louisville tickets for sale next weeks but seemingly Pittsburgh isn’t? Am I missing something?
When I look at the stat sheet....I'm not sure how we won. Oklahoma actually outscored us....20 points/set to 18.5 for Pitt. I don't think that has ever happened all season. They also had an ungodly number of blocks against Pitt's hitters....17 total....nearly 6 blocks/set. Regarding your question on mistakes that Oklahoma made being the difference.....you are correct. Fortunately....Oklahoma gave back 12 points/set...and that is the main reason we won. They had 9 service errors.....a couple of blocking errors....and far more unforced attack errors. Pitt's give back rate was around 9 points/set.....3 more per set than usual for Pitt.....but 3 less per set than Oklahoma. That was the big difference in the outcome of the game.Well, that was one of the worst sweeps I have seen this year. We didn’t play very well in either match but swept both.

I was out of town yesterday and unable to attend or watch. But definitely seems like we were off a bit. I thought the same was true Friday against a Morehead State team we should have dominated. And still, I look at what Louisville and others did, and am happy we were able to get two sweeps. Hopefully they can sharpen things up a bit before next week. When I look at the stat sheet....I'm not sure how we won. Oklahoma actually outscored us....20 points/set to 18.5 for Pitt. Throw out the records from the regular season. These are all capable teams @ this level, and this time of the year. It's all about matchups. As VVG and Fish said in their postgame interview, OK was tall (their one outside defender was 6'8"). Pitt finally figured out where to get some kills, and several were not from power spikesstill having a hard time thinking that OK team was 15-10 in the regular season
He's been consistently supporting the program for a while now. Not agreeing or disagreeing. Just putting it out there. This ahole needs to stay out of our gym. If it were up to me he wouldn’t be allowed to set foot on a college campus.
He also usually is there with his family. His daughters both play volleyball. He's been consistently supporting the program for a while now. Not agreeing or disagreeing. Just putting it out there.
Happen to know what club they're in?He also usually is there with his family. His daughters both play volleyball.
Oh yeah I know. I’ve seen him at matches. And he used to come to hoops games too. I’m just being critical. I don’t need to see his self promotion in our gym. He's been consistently supporting the program for a while now. Not agreeing or disagreeing. Just putting it out there.
I get it. Hopefully Pitt is leveraging his fandom, though.Oh yeah I know. I’ve seen him at matches. And he used to come to hoops games too. I’m just being critical. I don’t need to see his self promotion in our gym.
Appreciate your perspective. The stat sheet indicates Pitt was blocked 17 times....the exact number of total Pitt attack errors in the whole match....so there were no unforced errors from Pitt the whole match.....sound right to you?Oklahoma came out and really tried to mix things up. Triple blocks were effective but risky. Tried to run some confusing plays on offense. First set caught Pitt off guard. Adjustments were made and that was that. Rachel making back sets to the strong side was just beautiful.
Seeing a lot of lower seeds really letting it all hang out. Making for some interesting outcomes.
They were last year in terms of giving him added visibility to the program....not so much this year. I've been to every home match this year and this is the 1st time I saw any evidence he attended a game. Last year....he was hard to miss....always there with his family when he attended.I get it. Hopefully Pitt is leveraging his fandom, though.
Yes, that sounds right. I mean, you get blocked that many times, you're not really getting a chance to hit long or miss but it's still pretty impressive.Appreciate your perspective.
