So would running and punting. That's not the answer either.Honestly, it was a stupid play call.
That was a very low percentage play and if it's incomplete you stop the clock with 1:05-1:08 left.
They should've run the ball and punted. To me, that would have been playing to win.
Assuming Pitt would have been able to get off the punt that Marshall surely would've tried to block, Marshall would've had to go at minimum 50 or 60 yards in less than 30 seconds with no timeouts... and that is just to get off a realistic field goal attempt.
There's no way they could've done it – even against that horrible defense.
Conversely, if that fade route down the sideline falls incomplete – and percentages tell us that most of the time it will be – you're now punting to them with more than a minute left.
I'm sorry but that is flat out stupid football. It worked out so nobody will bat an eyelash here and I'm sure some people get upset with me for saying this, but it was still a really phucking dumb decision. It just so happened to be a stupid decision that worked out for us.
cool story, bro.Herdfan here.. enjoyed every minute until the game was over and we had to walk to the car and was pestered all the way... car punched... it's sad visiting fans can't just enjoy a ball game! You can bet Huntington won't be anything like that! You guys have a great team and good luck the rest of the season!!

That is asking way too much of a horrible defense.

Haha good one... it's funny because we aren't on our way home nor are we at a truck stop.. good try tho? Way to be classyIt was probably one of ur drunk hillbilly pals pestering to have sex with you on the way home at some truck stop bathroom.
I agree. UNC went 60 yards in 23 seconds against FSU to win the game.this is Pitt.
In your scenario, the punt surely wouldve been blocked.
Had Pitt managed to get the punt off, Marshall wouldve returned it for a TD.
If somehow Pitt got the punt off and it wasnt returned for a TD, Marshall wouldve just thrown deep ball after deep ball... getting interference calls all the way down the field until they scored or got into FG range.
Every Pitt fan knows this in their hearts.
With this defense, absolutely no lead is ever safe... and certainly not a 3 point lead.
You're wrong, DVY. Not in the general sense, but in the Pitt sense.
The PSU, OkSU, UNC, and Marshall games shouldve told you by now... Prevent offense is disastrous for Pitt. Until we recruit some DBs.

There was no problem with the call. Just where Peterman threw the ball. Orndoff was in the middle of the field with no one within 15 yards of him. It was a much easier throw.
Glad it worked out. Glad our staff learned you got to continue to play aggressive on offense late in games. Especially, when your defense cannot stop anyone
